After talking with the owner of smoe.org and us agreeing that there's been a lot of duplication of posts and info concerning Lilith Fair on many different lists, we've decided to create one list where people can discuss Lilith Fair, ask questions concerning venues, prices, vendors, hooking up at Lilith Fair, asking for directions to various fairs, posting updates concerning dates and artists performing, discussing products available at Lilith Fair, etc. etc. Basically, your one-stop Lilith Fair info and discussion shop. To subscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: subscribe lilith-fair-fans =or= subscribe lilith-fair-fans-digest if you prefer the digest version. When you sub you will receive a long file giving all the dates and venue information so far. The list is for both news and discussion concerning Lilith Fair. It also is a fan-run list and has no official relationship or endorsed relationship with Lilith Fair, Sarah or Nettwerk. Thought I would tell you how I got into listening to Patty. I first heard of her through an article in Mojo magazine, Jackson Browne & Shawn Colvin wrote about how great she was ( I believe Patty opened for Shawn at some time ) I then heard ' Every Little Bit' on a local radio station and decided to check out the 'Living With Ghosts' cd It was hard to hold of here ( UK) but eventually Virgin tracked down an imported copy for me ( The cd is readily available now ) Last December I was in New York for my birthday hoping to catch a Patty gig but no luck. I've asked Mike Connell about the chances of Patty coming over here hopefully she will ( Please Patty ) I've turned my friends on to Patty I've given tapes of her cd to them, all are impressed. So is there anyone else on the list from the UK if so, please get in touch. I've visited Patty's web sites on the net and downloaded stuff but I would like some origonal photos of her, can anyone help ? Also any magazine articles. Is Kathleen Wayt on the list ? if so , Kathleen I've got your phone number can you help me with photos and when can I call you ? Ok thats enough from me for now ,if you want to get in touch please do so either through the list or at steve.house@bt.com Steve House Lichfield, England ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Apr 1998 11:00:00 -0700 From: "Larry S. THe time is getting nearer and nearer, and all I can say is that my excitement level is rising! On May 2, 1998, I have the distinct pleasure of sharing, with you, the amazing music of two of my absolute favourite musicians, Jody Blackwell and Jenny Bruce. Nothing that I can say can properly convey my excitement to share their music or the amazing talent they possess and so beautifully will be sharing with you. Jody and Jenny are also two of the sweetest women I know. The future of folklore is *here*...all around us...all over the world. And the future defies all Webster's Dictionary definitions, because it is in the present. Amazing singers like Jody, Jenny, and so many others are here, now, singing tall, proud, and passionately. Let's all take part in a bit of future folklore history...in the past year, Living Room Concerts & Tours have become trend-setters (it seems like every siner in BOston to whom I speak knows about this stuff and eagerly asks if they can participate in any concerts that will come up...they know what's good...they, too, are sick and tired of the sense of disunity which is created mot of the time by needing to fill venues...). This first "pioneering" year of Living Room Concerts, there has been a grat focus on the beautiful and amazing talent out west--particularly in the San Diego Scene, as Elizabeth Hummel, Cindy Lee Berryhill, Lisa Sanders, Joy Eden Harrison, Mary Dolan, and others have performed at such concerts. Well, now that the baby has been born, it's time to broaden our horizons to remember that folklore is all over the world-up and down, east and west, north and south, in and out. So please come to my place on May 2, and you can get an itty bitty taste of what's happening out here on the East Coast! Here's the low-down... What: Living Room Concert Where: My House! 76 Boston Ave., W. Another cool thing about this...so far there are EDAs, ITWers, *and* MadMishers coming...come and have some cross-list fun! DIRECTIONS TO MY HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!! FROM PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: Take the RED LINE to Davis Square. When exiting the T station, once you pass through the turnstiles, hang a left and exit on the College Ave. side. Take the 94 BUS to the Harvard Street Light stop. This is at the traffic light *after* the Arlington Street/Giuseppi's Pizza traffic light. On the same side of the street as the bus you just got off of, walk back 4 or so houses ot #76...it's a faded reddish/pinkish house with high bushes around the front of it. FROM DAVIS SQUARE: Drive up College Avenue, away from The Square and towards Tufts. You will reach Powderhouse Circle. Do Not Fret! You will be going around the circle to the 3rd "spoke" off it. Basically, this means to go straight to the traffic light and then to hang a left and take your first right onto COLLEGE AVE. You will *know* it's College Ave. because Tufts University's campus will be to your immediate left! Follow College Ave. till the confusing intersection where you will see two sets of blinkies: a red set and an orange set. Youw ant to turn left here. This basically means to go left right "into" the orange set of blinkies...You are now on Boston Ave! On Boston Ave., go past the little stores known as the "Hillside" section. Keep ongoing up Boston Ave. You will reach a traffic light with a Texaco at your immediate Right and a U-Haul station right behind there. This is the intersection of Boston Ave. with Mystic Valley Parkway. Go Straight. **The next traffic light is Arlington Street. Go through this light, too. Now count up, on the side of the street closer to the Shotgun side of you car, three blocks until you reach HOlton Street. Cross Over Holton Street while staying on Boston Ave. Now count three houses up. This is my house....#76...a faded red house with high bushes aound it. You can park on the street. FROM Rt. 93 GOING NORTHBOUND: Once you are driving...happily, perhaps...on Rt. 93 and pass downtown Boston, keep a lookout for the signs that say "Rt. 16/ MYSTIC VALLEY PARKWAY." This is the exit you want. Take this exit andbear to the left....if you stay to the right you will end up on Rt. 38 and will be horribly lost. You will stay straight on Rt. 16, and you will go through a few traffic lights. Then you will see, at a traffic light, a Wild Harvest grocery store and a liquer store. Straight ahead you will notice that you will be going under an underpass...which is the lovely commuter rail. Go through these lights and under the underpass. The next light is the Boston Ave. intersection. You wil see the U Haul Station and the Texaco Station to your immediate LEFT. Hang a Right onto Boston Ave. Follow the directions from Davis Square from the **. FROM Rt. 93 GOING SOUTH (aka from NH/N. of Boston down twds. the city) Take Rt. 93 south. If you pass through downtown Boston you hafta make a U-turn at an exit. In that case follow the directions from Rt. 93 going Northbound. If you are doing OK, take Rt. 93 South till the Rt. 60 Exit. I am unsure if this exit says MEDFORD on it or not, bu take this exit. Rt. 60. I am pretty sure that it will put you straight on High Street. You want to go straight on High Street. You will come to a sort of rotary. I think it's either the second or third turn off the rotary...anyways the street sign says HIGH STREET, and if the street sign peopl are smart there should also be a sign that says Rt. 60. At one point while driving all la la la on High Street, you will drive overtrain tracks. These are for the lovely commuter rail! RIGHT AFTER the Train tracks, you will see a Dunkin' Donuts on your left. This is at the corner at the Harvard Street light. TURN LEFT HERE! Go down one block. At the traffic light turn left. On the side of the street closer to the driver's side of the car (aka on your left...) my house is about 4 houses in. It's the faded red one with the high bushes. *********************************** Hope to see you all in a week and a half!
