In mid-April, the first track to be released (called a focus track in this case) will be sent to the radio stations for air play and will be closely followed by an early/promo release of the Flaming Red CD to the same stations. The first release will be "One Big Love", a song co-written by Angelo (one of them one-named artists), who also co-wrote a #1 hit by Trisha Yearwood (title escaped Mike at the moment and I have no clue at all). Mike said she has performed it at some, but not many shows in the past.....anyone ever hear it?.....I haven't :-( Also in mid-April, she will be auditioning "her band" for an upcoming tour....possibly including Lilith Fair/Horde dates, NONE of which are finalized yet....she hasn't signed on with either tour yet....they "are talking".... OK....the finalized track list & order for Flaming Red (13 tracks): Flaming Red #One Big Love Tony Change Goodbye Carry Me Christina Wiggley Fingers *Blue Sky *Big Daddy Go Now Mary Peter Pan # - co-written by Angelo * - co-written by Jay Joyce (who also produced the CD) Added note - "Wiggley Fingers" is the official spelling of this song Also, as of this moment, only one show/concert is presently scheduled....the previously announced show with Ellis Paul at Hamilton College in upstate NY on Thursday May 7th. Well, that's about it...it's late and I'm going to bed Mike :-) * The Patty Griffin/Mad-Mission@smoe List Homepage is at: * http://www.spectra.net/~ducksoup/pattyg/pattyg.htm * * The Jewel EveryDay Angels List Homepage & Guide is at: * http://www.spectra.net/~ducksoup * * aka DuckOfPrey@aol.com WhyADuck55 on AOL Instant Messenger ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Mar 1998 07:50:13 -0500 (EST) From: the emperor of smurfs Subject: MM: Re: Patty Griffin's Flaming Red release date / tracklist / first release info :-) On Sat, 21 Mar 1998, Mike Connell wrote: > The first release will be "One Big Love", a song co-written by > Angelo (one of them one-named artists), who also co-wrote a #1 hit by > Trisha Yearwood (title escaped Mike at the moment and I have no clue at > all) i know that Angelo and Kim Richey co-wrote "Those Words We Said" which appeared on Trisha's 1995 album "Thinkin About You." the song also appeared on Kim Richey's debut album ... but the title of that escapes me at this hour :) peace, dave *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* Dave DiCicco peaches@dmapub.dma.org hmmmm...they have the internet on computers now --- homer simpson *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Mar 1998 09:04:37 EST From: Rongrittz Subject: MM: Flaming Red tracks. Hello, fellow Missionaries . . . First time poster, on this list anyway . . . howdy to anyone I may know from the Dar Williams or Richard Shindell lists. Anyway, regarding the track listings as listed in Mike Connell's post, I have a coupla questions. See, I have a concert recording (on MiniDisc, muy excellente) from Patty's show at the Turning Point in Piermont, NY from last May, and she played a bunch of new songs (great ones, BTW) that I assumed would be on her next release, but which don't seem to be on the track list Mike posted. Is this because she changed the titles, I don't actually *know* the titles, or because she simply dropped the songs? I'm talking about . . . Cain Mama (not sure whether that's the title, but it includes the refrain "calling me all the way home") Falling Down We Are Water One More Girl I don't seem to see them on the following list (BTW, she also did "Wiggley," "Flaming Red" and "Goodbye" -- which I'm assuming is the one I call "Better Way to Say Goodbye" -- at the Piermont show, as well as a buncha stuff from the first CD), so can someone clear this mystery up for me? >> Flaming Red/One Big Love/Tony/Change/Goodbye/Carry Me/ Christina/Wiggley Fingers/Blue Sky/Big Daddy/Go Now/Mary/Peter Pan << Many thanks . . . nice to be here. Heck, nice to be anywhere on this cold, rainy, sleety, crappy NJ morning. Ron NP: Jackson Browne "I'm Alive" ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Mar 1998 10:34:42 -0400 From: David Lewis Subject: MM: new cd Thanks for the song list. The only tune on there I would have ****really**** loved to see was "Nobody's Crying" (Wishing Well). That is by far my favorite tune. That line, "swingin off og those gates of hell..." etc is so amazing. Oh well. Maybe on the next one. The "problem" is, Patty just has *too* much repertoire! I remember when Sarah M. left Halifax for Vancouver and Nettwerk records... she was 19 and had never even written a tune! She'd done some playing around town with October Game... a forgetable New Wave band, and her voice was fantastic (of course), but she had never actually written any music! Patty on the other had has been writing for years! That of course is fantastic... but it also means there is so much great stuff that's not yet recorded. Maybe she should do a live album at some point with a bunch of stuff that hasn't been recorded. That would be cool. - ---------------------------------------- Graphic Design - Multimedia - Web Design email: dlewis@accesscable.net web: http://mypage.accesscable.net/~dlewis ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Mar 1998 08:18:02 -0800 (PST) From: hooligan Subject: Re: MM: Patty Griffin's Flaming Red release date / tracklist / first release info :-) what - no We Are Water!?!?!
