So when I accidentally saw her tape in front of me at Music Box, I had to get it to see what kind of singer he liked, and promptly got hooked with one listen to the tape. I think it was You Are Not Alone that did it. I have since gotten familiar with every note and have seen her twice in concert and have shared her tape with a number of people- some of who now love her also. I saw her last winter in Northhampton, Mass opening for Shawn Colvin. I thought she was lost on that audience and felt like I was the only one in the theater that knew her music. The acoustics were terrible for her, but she was still so fragile and lovely. Shawn's concert went on to be wonderful- the house rocked! Maybe Patty has grown on that audience since I see she is going back to that town on Feb. 18- I am thinking about going up there even tho it is a Wed night and it is about 1 1/2 hrs away. Then I took four of my five kids to see her at the Eli Whitney Barn which is a tiny place. There were maybe fifty people there, but they were definitely in tune with her- they obviously were familiar with her work, they listened in absolute silence to her every word and didn't want to let her go at the end. We were only two rows away from her. One of my 20 yr old daughters had never heard her before, bought the CD and now I hear listens to it every morning! My 11 yr old loves her as well, and got her to sign a t- shirt which she won't wear- she wants to save that writing. Patty was very kind and even remembered Arielle's name the second time she went thru the line. She looked so delicate, but this huge voice just comes out of her and her guitar work is perfect. I have even sent her tape to Australia and India to people I trade JB music with as well as around US. I have only met one 16 yr old girl who knows who she is {she is the daughter of a co-worker who haunts the acoustic music places in Conn. which I think is really unusual for her age}. It seems like no one in my life likes the kind of music I love. Her lyrics break your heart, and yet she is strong enough to on. To quote Jackson, "Let the music keep our spirits high", and to quote Shawn "If there were no music, I could not get through". I am glad to know that you are revving up interest in her and hope the list blossoms. The only change (negative-wise) from previous "word of mouth" dates mentioned on this list is that the 2/19 show in Piermont NY has been cancelled, with no show scheduled to fill that open date. (maybe we can talk her into a Living Room Tour gig that night....Tammy & Rob, you up for it? ;) The dates below don't mention if there are one or two shows, but it appears some are two-show dates. As the early dates rolled in via word-of-mouth, I added them to my web page and did web searches for the venues' home pages and a few of them showed two shows. There have been rumors she may be at the Ann Arbor Folk Festival on January 31st. However there was no mention of it with the dates below and she's not listed on the web page for the event, so I have no idea at this time if she's going to be at that show. Liz! CC this to Mia (Cleveland date), I don't have her latest addy. (or is it the same as the old one?)
