[ABershaw ] MM: Off-Topic: Cool Gig alert - Sarah Slean, MI, OH, ON [Dan Stark Subject: MM: Tour Date: January 31 Hi, Maybe I missed this, but in case it hasn't been mentioned, I have heard that Patty has been added to the bill for the Ann Arbor Folk Festival at the Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor, MI on January 31st. Other performers, according to the web site, include: Paula Cole Doc Watson and David Grisman Guy Clark Cheryl Wheeler Chris Smither Dee Carstensen Karen Pernick The Nields Great Big Sea Tickets are $25 and $55 available from the Michigan Union Ticket Office at 313-763-TKTS, or through TicketMaster. Official info is at http://www.a2ark.org , although I notice they don't have Patty listed on the web site yet. The show is presented by The Ark in Ann Arbor, and if you want to confirm the lineup they can be reached at 313-761-1800. Last year, Patty performed only a very short set at the Folk Festival, so if you aren't interested in the rest of the performers this may not be the best value for you to travel for. Best! Hi all, Has anyone done a detailed breakdown of Patty's contributions as a backing vocalist on other musicians albums? I'm aware she's done some duet vocals on a few of Ellis Paul's albums, but I'm curious to know exactly which tracks on each album she participated in. Are there any other artists on whose recordings she can be heard? Also, BIG THANKS to Mike & Jeff for getting this list up & running! Hope to see some of you at upcoming New England gigs. SARAH SLEAN, who has received rave reviews on some other lists similar to this one, is making a rare appearance within striking distance of Detroit, Toledo, and surrounding areas next Friday, January 16. She will be appearing at the Terradactyl Lounge in Windsor, Ontario, just across the river from beautiful downtown Detroit. The reason I'm posting this here is that Sarah is a wonderful up-and-coming artist with some of the same sort of power and emotion in her music that draws fans to Patty, and while musically she is more like a cross between Jewel and Sarah Mclachlan, I think she would be well-liked by anyone on this list. I have made several 4-hour drives to Toronto to catch her shows, and it has been worth it every time! Sarah rarely tours outside of Toronto at this point, and the Windsor date is probably the closest she will get to the U.S. for some time, so come see her now while you have the chance! I'm not sure if it's an all-ages show, but legal age in Ontario is only 19 (drop me an e-mail if you want me to check.) Moe Berg from The Pursuit Of Happiness headlines so there will be a cover charge (probably not much) and Sarah's set will be fairly early. E-mail me if you plan to come and need directions or any other info. More Sarah info and soundbites are at http://xoom.com/northern Best!
