When I first tried to play Sweet Lorraine I thought it was really a strange strumming pattern. Now that I am used to it, I think it is pretty easy. I play it a little differently than written on the tabs I found. Here is my modified version: standard tuning - CAPO 3RD G - 320033 Dsus4 - x00233 D - 000232 C - 003210 C? -032033 Am - 002210 When moving to this C? from a G, move your fingers from strings 5&6 to 4&5, but keep the same position Intro: G C? D G C? D G C9 D (000232) to D (000230) Sweet Lorraine the fiery head brown eyed schemer who came from a long line of drinkers and dreamers who knew that sunshine don't hold up to dark whose businesses fail who sleep in the park Lor raine who spoke of paintings in Paris and outlandish things to her family just to scare us whose heart went pokin where it shouldnmt ought Here is my recommendation on strumming: First just hit the bass note on the G twice, then strum the higher strings, then switch to the C and again play the bass note first then strum the higher strings. Of course, if you play along with the CD, it helps! Good luck, I hope this helps. I'm still reeling from it. Saw it last night with a friend. Next step is to read the book. Wow...bowled over by stupendous acting and such a fragile, intense movie...really amazing Wow. A stupendous female-driven cast. Great performances by everyone involved, including men. Really, really superb. This one is definitely going to steal the Oscars, we'll have to wait and see just how much. Julianne never ceases to amaze, Nicole was incredible, Meryl breathtaking, Ed Harris was great, the little boy was so amazing, oh my God...the spirit of Virginia Woolf lives on and breathes in all of us...it was really a testament to life and creativity and passion and a very interesting movie which I have not swallowed fully nor digested properly great Phillip Glass soundtrack _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 3 months FREE*. http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail&xAPID=42&PS=47575&PI=7324&DI=7474&SU= http://www.hotmail.msn.com/cgi-bin/getmsg&HL=1216hotmailtaglines_smartspamprotection_3mf ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 31 Dec 2002 12:19:10 -0800 From: Jerry Skomer Subject: MM: Oooh, I suspect this will be a slightly sensitive subject . . . Okay, everyone, where is the BEST place to find the lyrics to Patty's songs? I was looking around and found the usual suspects, but I have a little trouble believing some of the lyrics listed for songs from Silver Bell. I saw one "interpretation" (let's call it) of "Boston" that had me laughing out loud. It simply could not have been correct. So, without offending anyone, does somebody KNOW where I can get accurate lyrics for the songs on Silver Bell? Jerry ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 31 Dec 2002 03:16:48 -0600 (Central Standard Time) From: "Janet C. Jordan M.D." Subject: MM: Sweet Lorraine I'm just a beginner also, but my friend showed me a few tricks for the strumming pattern. Just like what Scott described: standard tuning - CAPO 3RD G - 320033 Dsus4 - x00233 D - 000232 C - 003210 (but I think this is 032033 as he describes below or I play it 032030 ) C? -032033 Am - 002210 When moving to this C? from a G, move your fingers from strings 5&6 to 4&5, but keep the same position (Yes that's what I do) Now my friend plays it with 2 hammer-ons with the D chords: D-00023h2 then Dsus4-X0023h3 He also strums up on the first stoke, when playing these 2 chords and it makes the hammers really stand out. There is also a little 1 count pause after strumming the G and after strumming the D. Sounds good when he plays it but I still have to practice. :-) Janet ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 31 Dec 2002 13:33:14 -0800 (PST) From: Breanna Subject: MM: Hello Hey all, I'm new to the list and just wanted to say hello to all the fellow Patty fans out there!
