She said it's new and we probably hadn't heard it. I didn't see it in the lyrics archive, but that doesn't mean it's not there- I might have overlooked it. Sadly, my memory doesn't serve me well enough to remember it all. The two key repetitions I can recall are: goodbye, goodbye, goodbye (the first time she sings it, she refers to a bird that wants to be free) and she also repeats something about being tired of unfulfilled desire Ring a bell with anyone? I'm hoping she'll play it again tomorrow night in L.A. It was a beautiful song. Hope we'll be hearing it again soon. Saw Patty last night at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach. She looked lovely- hair down, red fitted short jacket, long red skirt, black top with split sleeves. Doug was there, so I was happy. I was afraid he'd still be home with the baby (Rufus...or as Mike Ramos called him, Baby Ruf). They sounded a little fast on some songs, I thought, but I'm not a professional. I believe the guy in front of me was recording the show (hey, Hawaiian shirt guy, if you're on the list, let us know if you're willing to share!). Patty was funny and playful with the audience. She had to keep tuning her guitars (blamed it on the sea air) and so had a lot of time to fill between songs. At one point when the crowd was getting too loud she said, I'm falling apart up here but you guys have to keep it together for me. A lot of talk about Doug's new baby. A random reference to My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Some fun moments...talking about them "getting their shit together" early on the tour in Solana Beach and getting their shit together there again as they get back on the road post "vacation". Set list as best I can remember: (definitely not all in the right order) Be Careful Long Ride Home Goodbye Chief (with a humorous reference to her burgeoning country music career thanks to the CMT play of her video...and that a VH1 person told her to make the video for VH1 play, which has never happened) Rain Truth #2 Top of the World Perfect White Girls ??New song Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground Stolen Car Making Pies (with that same "segs" (segue) reference that was mentioned last week on the list) Mad Mission Mil Besos Let Him Fly Mary Tomorrow Night ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Oct 2002 19:17:37 -0400 From: Dome93@aol.com Subject: MM: Peter Stuart Oh, Peter Stuart...he was alright. I recognized his Dog's Eye View song, "Everything Falls Apart". He did some stuff that was GREAT but then he'd jack around with his voice and kill it. That's just my opinion. Certainly a nice opener for Patty. ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V6 #365 *********************************
