Wanted to introduce myself. I became a Patty Griffin fan after picking up her Flaming Red album based upon a review I read on the now-defuct "Addicted to Noise" web-zine (anyone remember that? boy, I miss it). At any rate, since then I've decided I'd leave my wife and kids for Patty if she gave me the opportunity (not really . . OK maybe I would . . no I wouldn't). I went back and picked up Living with Ghosts, and have recently been burning holes in the 1000 Kisses cd. Love every song on the album (especially Making Pies and Long Ride Home) except for the Springsteen cover . . didn't like it when he did it, either. I managed to catch Patty once in conert, opening for the Dixie Chicks in Birmingham, AL. No, I would not have paid the price of admission for just the Dixie Chicks (although I like them). In the nosebleed section, I wasn't close enough to really enjoy Patty's set. The crowd was obviously there for the Chicks. Ok, to the point: I'm a selfish bastard, and I can't rest knowing there's an entire album's woth of studio recordings floating around (Silver Bell). I've done the KaZaa thing and can't seem to find it. I'm sure this is one of these subjects that's been hashed a thousand times already, so I apologize in advance. I would greatly appreciate any info on how I might obtain a copy of of this (mp3, cds, whatever). Perhaps someone here with a KaZaa client could hook me up? For the record, Patty Griffin is one of my favorite artists. She embodies the feminine voice to perfection. The playing and the music is good too, but it's the voice and delivery that knocks me down. Of course, it wouldn't be as good as it is without the songs and the tunes, but for me it's the voice that really sets her apart. Other favs: Wilco, Dwight Yoakam, U2 . . and a sucker for good vocalists like Patty and KD Lang. Hope to get some good info from you guys. Sincerely, Doug Wilkerson ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V6 #340 *********************************
