At the time, Griffin was involved in a battle with her record label, resulting in an album that was never released. Not all was lost for her, though, as the Chicks plucked two songs from it for Home. One of those, "Truth No. 2," is pure Griffin -- holding out hope, despite the stacked odds. (It's named "Truth No. 2," because she had already written an entirely different song titled "Truth.") Griffin, who now lives in Austin, also contributed "Let Him Fly" for the Chicks' album Fly. The second Griffin song, "Top of the World," closed the set. Before singing it, Maines explained that it was written from the perspective of Griffin's dead grandfather, who looks back at his life's regrets, especially the cruelty to his wife. The Chicks performed it with a string section, with Maines losing herself in the melancholy lyrics. taken from: http://www.cmt.com/news/display/1457031.jhtml I bought the album this morning, both Patty songs were quite a shock. Natalie remains mainly faithful to Pattys vocal delivery but the musical arrangements are very different. I love the end of Top of The World - the string arrangement is great. I was actually not expecting to like the album all that much but I really do. And seeing as the Chicks introduced me to Patty, I will always love them ;o) Sarah _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Aug 2002 12:50:50 -0400 From: Scott Antall Subject: MM: FW: Silver Bell offer closed - NOTE TO PETER Sorry to bug the whole list with this, but Peter, your emails are all coming back undeliverable.
