Houston radio SUCKS!!! Are there any Houston Patty Griffin fans out there? If so, how on earth did you hear about her in this awful radio-shrine-to-top-40 land? Are there any good radio stations out here? All of the "alternative" ones play boys only. I have yet to hear one female voice coming over the airwaves. I recently took a road trip with my cousin and played 1000 Kisses for her. She had never heard of Patty (because Houston radio sucks) and loved the album. Is this the end for me? Lightning 100 in Nashville worshipped Patty. Now all I hear is Kylie Minogue and N-Stink. - -Cristina _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Aug 2002 16:47:03 -0500 From: "Rob Hanning" Subject: MM: bit of Patty in Chicago Sun-Times www.suntimes.com/output/entertainment/cst-ftr-dixie27.html Above is a link to the entire article... Here's the bit about Patty: "The Chicks are ardent champions of songwriter Patty Griffin, whose tune "Let Him Fly" was included on their last disc. Here, they perform two works that originally appeared on "Silver Bell," an unreleased album that Griffin cut for Universal, which rejected it. The infectious "Truth #2" features an urgent fiddle line and startling imagery ("This time when he swung the bat/ And I found myself laying flat I wondered/ What a way to spend a dime/ What a way to use the time"). - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: Click Here ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Aug 2002 16:51:46 -0500 From: "Rob Hanning" Subject: MM: the rest of the Patty part I was cut off in the midst of it...Here's the second Patty paragraph: "The other Griffin tune, "Top of the World," is a string-laden tour de force about a troubled husband. It's the best song the Chicks have ever recorded. John Mock's string arrangements and Maines' dynamic vocal create the kind of adventuresome sonic textures often found in pop music but rarely heard in the country realm." I joined the list last night. I've been a long time fan of Patty, have all three of her cd's and love to play her music myself. I'm trying to do the singer/ songwriter thing and she is definetely one of my biggest influences. I haven't gotten to see her in concert yet, but would love to soon. I'm just saying hi. I look forward to the discussion on this list. Any of you traders out there, let me know if you're interested in a trade. Everyone take care! Zach Yahoo! Plus, they nail the Patty songs. Top of the World is awesome, arrangement is just like Patty's on Austin City Limits. It's completely amazing. And, Truth #2 is excellent too, but never having heard the Patty version I can't compare it. Either way, great stuff, so check it out. :) Later, Amy - --- Rob Hanning wrote: > I was cut off in the midst of it...Here's the second > Patty paragraph: > "The other Griffin tune, "Top of the World," is a > string-laden tour de > force about a troubled husband. I just joined the list myself & this is my first posting, so I don't know much about the workings on this list- I'm just excited to hear all the Patty news! A few questions for everyone/anyone/someone on the list- Are there still ways to get a Silver Bell copy? Also... I noticed on all of Don's recent setlist postings that Patty hasn't been playing the song "Nobody's Crying" at her shows- and for those who have been keeping up- does she not play that song live anymore? Just curious. I'm checking her out next month at Austin City Limits Festival and I was hoping to catch it live in concert. Last time I saw her in Boulder, CO- she played it and the energy in the room was INCREDIBLE! (Speaking of which- does anyone have the setlist from that show- Fox Theatre, first week of June?) Anyhow. Glad to be on the list! If someone has the answers to any of my inquiries, I'd love to hear from you! Take care! Chris >>>>>> Hi everyone, This is my first time posting. I joined the list last night.
