I actually agree that the best way to support Patty presently is to purchase as many copies of 1000 Kisses as one practically can. I, for one, have done this. I have given 1000 Kisses as a present to at least 10 different people. I don't want to be too righteous here, but if you are listening to Silver Bell, you should recompense the artist. Perhaps you can buy yet one more copy of 1000 Kisses and give it to someone?? Equally importantly, however, is to let Patty know somehow, someway that you appreciated Silver Bell and have done something to reward her effort on it. To merely purchase 1000 Kisses, in my humble opinion, is great but doesn't exactly address the "need" here. Artists like to know when the public is enjoying their work . . . So, if you don't want to send her cash for Silver Bell maybe you might consider dropping her a note saying that you bought an additional copy of 1000 Kisses to give to someone as a gift and a way of saying "thanks" for her music and particularly for putting up with the nonsense she suffered during the recording of Silver Bell. Just a thought. Jerry ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Aug 2002 12:50:03 -0400 From: Kerry Subject: MM: re: Silver Bell rewards... > . But what I think we'd all love to see happen is for someone to release Silver Bell commercially, with a nice cd booklet, and maybe even a promotional campaign. The best way for that to happen is for whoever owns the rights to think it might be worth their investment to do so. Patty knows her fans love her work. But record companies only talk in dollars and cents. If 1000 Kisses were to be a hit, or maybe even better, if sales of Flaming Red and Living With Ghosts were to pick up now that 1000 Kisses is out there and reaching some ears...that might finally get Silver Bell released officially. So, if you've got some spare cash, go out and buy more of her cds...it's probably the best way to investing in the Silver Bell cause... Kerry ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Aug 2002 20:40:37 -0400 From: Mike Connell Subject: MM: Next single, possible UK tour, TV special, preferred seating & more Hi y'all :-) Got lots of new-ish info from Patty's management and a some exciting news from gal who works with the folks who head up the ticket sales for Patty's gigs. First, the ticket stuff. No specifics have been outlined yet but basically what it is is that they, in her words "generally hold 50 tix for each show and if the show is reserved they tend to be some of the best seats in the house". She also said: >I have contacted Vector Management and our label heads here >(Patty is on ATO Records as you know which is related to Musictoday and Red >Light Management) and no one seems to have a solid fan club list. This is >where I am hoping you and I can work together. {snip} > so we can inform you guys about on-sales >and upcoming shows and where to get her tickets. So, what is going to happen is when they have any news regarding this, they will send it on to me and I'll post it to the list and the news version of this list. Hopefully it will all be in place by the time her next tours/mini-tours occur. As for the news from Vector....some of this is probably old news to you all, some of it is new I am certain.....I haven't been keeping up with a lot of the shows/dates etc as she's never anywhere's near me so I don't get too excited when I read posts about new shows being scheduled, so I am sorry for any of this that is "old news"..... They are working on getting 1000 Kisses released in the UK and if that comes to be Patty will probably be going over there for some touring in late November. So, for all you Brits who have been writing me asking when Patty will be leaving "the colonies" and touring in England, here ya go! Get your fellow Brits to buy the CD(s) and sell out her UK shows! The next single is "Chief" and it has been released and it was "the #2 most added record this week", whatever exactly that means. I have an idea but I am sure it's not totally right. Also, they have confirmed Patty appearances at festivals in Louisville KY on 9/22 and in Austin, TX on 9/28. She will also be taping a television special with The Chieftans in Nashville at the Ryman on 9/20 along with other artists who were on the Chieftans latest album. (old news?) In early November they are holding open some dates for a possible series of benefit concerts for the "Landmine Free World" project. Stay tuned. Prior to that they are working on another run of shows up the west-coast in late October. Stay tuned for that one too. Also, they have taken note of the recent Silver Bell conversations and the talk about compensations to Patty for her work on Silver Bell. Interscope would probably frown upon Vector and/or ATO getting money for a CD they technically and legally own, and they (Vector) are happy to see that a better idea has surfaced and that being that the best way to support Patty is to buy and convince others to buy the albums that have been commercially released. Patty of course receives royalties from sales of those (more royalties from the ATO release) and, in their words.... "the more she sells the more her star rises in the eyes of the folks that run record companies and the more likely it is that "Silver Bell" will see the light of day with all the artwork, pomp and circumstance it deserves." They also wanted me to tell you that they very much appreciate the continued support and kind wishes.
