Today I was working on a photo birthday card for my best friend in NYC- he is a songwriter who Loves Patty also. For his card i made a sign thats says Happy Birthday Ronnie and i was out on the streets of LA having random people on the street hold the sign. When I am done i am sending him the undeveloped roll. I am also sending him a pick that Patty gave me from her Troubadour show. And Guess who walked by... You guessed it Patty- all by herself She was sooooo nice and talked for a while with me and posed for a picture with the sign !!! How Lucky am I...this was my third time getting to talk with her. By the way i had goosebumps for a few hours afterwards. I've never heard the live version (it's not on the Love from My Lips cd's) so I can only go on this -- I can see what people mean by the pauses, but I love the sounds towards the end, the way it builds up in a haunting, melancholy roll towards the end -- whose voice is that? What are they singing? And, while I'm at it, my copy has the vague sound of static and, vaguer still, the sound of voices off of a radio. Is this part of it? I'm inclined to think it is, as none of the other tracks have this on it -- it kind of adds to the ghost-like quality, for me. BTW -- if Patty can redo 5 of the songs from this, which are the 5 people would want most? And, if she did this, wouldn't it preclude Intrascope from EVER releasing it? I mean, why release an album when 5 of the tracks are available elsewhere? adam k. Does anyone have the lyrics to this? I have it in my car without the cover but I'm pretty sure they are not in the sleeve. If so, please correct me and I'll go look for them. Also, who else thinks it would be a good idea for Patty to record a jazz "standards" record. Hearing her voice resonate on Mil Besos and Tomorrow Night, I would love to have an album of her doing torch songs. Of course, then again I'd like another flaming red ruckus album too. How about just lots more albums of all types. One a year should do it for me. Hope VIP of ATO are listening... Thoughts of mine on my way to the wishing well... She had her flown down to New Orleans just to sing on that particular song. Pretty cool, huh? :-) If I had to choose 5 songs from Silver Bell, they would be.. Little God, Top Of The World, Makin' Pies, Sorry & Sad, & Boston. I agree with everyone else though, the very 1st live versions of Top Of The World were truly the best. LIke the one from the Fez shows back in '99 I believe, when she ended with the la la la, instead of "to the top of the world, to the top of the world, etc.." Even the Spring 2000 tour had great versions of this song, and now with Doug going into his guitar solo at the end. I think all these are better than the Silver Bell version. Even though I DO love the haunting voices at the end on the CD. The stage is set in a grass field, so bring a chair and/or a blanket plus a picnic meal. The concert supposedly starts at 8 p.m. I'm not sure whether or not there is an opening act. ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V6 #259 *********************************
