But I know just what you mean. I received 1000 Kisses a little over a week before losing a family member to cancer. It was a devastating experience, and I remember very well, listening to "Rain" and getting choked up. I haven't listened to "Goodbye" from FR for a year, because it was incredibly painful to listen to, knowing what the future would bring. A few weeks after the funeral, I saw Patty at the Troubador and she sang "Goodbye." I couldn't turn it off, or skip over it. I had to stand there and let it resonate through my head. And I cried. Thank goodness it was dark in there. But, it was a very emotional experience. I've never cried at a concert before (and hope to never again). I think that says a lot for the power of Patty's songs. On a happier note, thanks to Don Henn for identifying the music playing over the PA at Patty's shows-Screen Door Music, a trio which includes Brian (the cellist). After much searching on the internet, I was able to locate a CD at Hootenanny Holler (hootholler.com). If you're looking for some nice, kick-back instrumental music, this one fits the bill! - -Pamela ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Jul 2002 10:51:06 EDT From: LMYERS2HOU@aol.com Subject: MM: Re: mad-mission-1000 Kisses & family ties In a message dated 7/6/02 12:36:29 AM Central Daylight Time, owner-mad-mission-digest@smoe.org writes: Rob, I am so sorry about your mom. I hope her passing will be peaceful and painless. I know it won't be for you and your family. "Long Ride Home" always make me think of my parents-in-law. Mom died after she and Pop had been married for 43 years. He must have felt the same thing the guy in the song was thinking. Sometimes a song like that can help you grieve by making you cry. << In a way, I wish more people would find an appreciation for this genius songwriter, but at the same time, I'm glad she's still kind of our little secret.>> Patty always seems to have a song for every occasion. So does Melissa Etheridge who has a CD called Your Little Secret.:) Loretta ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V6 #253 *********************************
