News Daily Hey- Just thought I'd mention that Patty got mentioned on E! News Daily today. (Hey, back off -- I only watch it because it's a gentle, mindless way to ease into the day as I eat my cereal each morning...) Cheri Oteri (of SNL) was on to talk about Kevin Aucoin (I know I got that name wrong -- the make-up artist who passed away last week), and mentioned that when he fell in love with a person or artist, he was their biggest fan. She said he'd make her sit down and listen to CDs by artists he loved, "Like Tori Amos or Patty Griffin," over and over again. Maybe she'll get some extra sales out of it... Okay, does anyone on this list actually know Patty? I think it would be an absolute shame if our resident Patty-head didn't either meet her backstage or get an onstage mention. The guy is incredible in his devotion, and he shares the wealth. So, I say, Patty should meet Don. Anyone able to arrange that? Jerry LAUNCH - Your Yahoo! I'm sorry, I know I don't post much but this quote disgusted me: "Maybe she'll get some extra sales out of it...". Yes, I'm sure that's just what she would want. Some extra sales out of the death of her friend. What kind of person are you that the first thing you think about after someone mentions Patty's name in the context of her friend dying is album sales? I know wherever he is, Kevyn would be proud of Patty's success, but that quote is just sick. Kevyn Aucoin was a brilliant artist, author, poet, activist, and above all a beautiful soul. It is an absolutely huge and devastating loss. Show a little respect. I think they were implying that because her name came out of the mouth of Kevyn Aucoin people may say, "hmm who's Patty Griffin?(the people that don't know her) Maybe I'll check it out." - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Wednesday, May 15, 2002 12:52 PM Subject: Re: MM: Re: Patty "on" E! I just received a copy of a Landmine Free concert from Cleveland. It features: Emmylou Harris Patty Nancy Griffith Mary Chapin-Carpenter Steve Earle Bruce Cockburn Patty sings "Chief", "Be Careful" and "Top of the World." As usual, she's wonderful. The quality is good and there's some really great tracks on here. It's two discs. Since many people on this list have offered up great music I'd like to do the same. If anyone wants a copy email me privately and I'll be happy to make arrangements. If there are a lot of requests I may ask for some help with that tree/branch, parent/child thing we all do.
