If anyone's interested in purchasing a copy of the No Depression magazine with the Patty Griffin article in it, you can purchase single copies at their website: http://www.nodepression.net/ It's a little costly ($7), but it's pretty difficult to locate copies elsewhere. The Patty article is 9-10 pages long. 6 pages of text and the rest are pictures, etc. There is also a full page ad for 1000 Kisses earlier in the issue. Probably not going to be much more of interest to anyone in the magazine. Although there is a great 10 page article on Wilco. Take care, Bob p.s. Thanks for all the e-mails! The article will remain up on my site a little while longer. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 05 May 2002 02:25:17 -0400 From: Richard Challen Subject: MM: Charlotte Short but great show tonight in Charlotte. Others will go into details, so I will only offer two things: Can't wait to see a longer set tomorrow in Asheville, and Patty does "Ruby's Arms" better than Tom Waits himself... and this coming from someone who owns EVERY Waits album and a whole bunch of bootlegs, too. WOW. Goose bumps all over. night, rICH Listen to Rich: Check out the official website of Backyard Green, featuring tour dates, lyrics, pictures, and sound clips from the new album: http://www.backyardgreen.com And be sure to check out Rich's solo website at: http://listen.to/rich.com http://www.geocities.com/richardchallen ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 May 2002 00:46:26 EDT From: OneMoreGirl24@aol.com Subject: Re: MM: ATO/Music Today and "Patti" I went to the site for Patty's official store and it looks real to me! Talk about a sticky situation.. LOL Dave (a.k.a. Congratulations to the person who said "Long Ride Home"! Very funny! :-) I'm sitting here trying to think of the song that Don would choose, and I really can't say. Ruby's Arms is his current favorite as far as live performances, but I'm not so sure that's the song he'd want to sing with her on stage. Maybe it would be more something like "We Are Water"??? Whenver he gets back, I'm sure he'll chime in on this one. If I was to choose, wow.. so many to choose from. Maybe Moses, but I can't sing worth a shit, so maybe she'd just let me play guitar on Wiggley Fingers since I pretty much know that. :-) Dave ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 May 2002 13:50:49 -0400 From: "Thomas H. Kercheval" Subject: MM: Ruby's Arms Joke I have to say, I enjoyed Patty's version of "Ruby's Arms," but it also had me laughing internally for quite some time. There's a line where she sings, "I walk past her broken wind chiimes," and there's a long pause between the word "wind" and "chimes." The first time I heard it, I didn't realize the word "chimes" was coming after "I walk past her broken wind." I don't know if I can ever take that song seriously ever again. :-) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 May 2002 06:30:57 -0400 From: "Lori Garvey" Subject: MM: Re: If you could sing one song with Patty Long Ride Home - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Saturday, May 04, 2002 3:19 PM Subject: MM: If you could sing one song with Patty > > How about the rest of you? Wolfson Patty Griffin Title: Silver Bells Label: A&M Release Date: Spring What To Expect: If Patty Griffin's fans are divided between those who like the sparseness of the local singer-songwriter's Living With Ghosts from 1996 and supporters of 1998's decidedly more rock-oriented Flaming Red, the forthcoming Silver Bells might just unite them. If it does, Griffin says it wasn't intentional. "I was aiming for getting a unique sound out of the combination of using my touring band, two producers [Jay Joyce and Craig Ross], and Kingsway studios," she says. "By definition, it's less produced than Flaming Red and not an acoustic record, so it's different." What's Different?: "I was trying to figure out a way to get more of me in there without it being a bare-bones acoustics record or it sounding self-conscious. Over the last few years, I've listened to a lot of Iggy Pop albums, Kinks records, and Chess recordings, things where people were really just making music. And I really wanted to try that with the band."
