I am also very dissappointed with 1000 kisses. Too short, too many covers, too many instruments, too much production. LFML 1 and 2 are filled with superb songs. Why didn't she just record half of them? That F*****g accordion that keep appearing on just about every track just reminds me of a weird Al Yankovic (american comedian who releases parodies of popular songs, quite funny) doing a song called "Polka your Eyes out" from off the deep end. She sound just plain uncomfortable singing in spanish on Mil Besos. Listen to Sixpence None the richer doing "Puedo Escribir" if you want to hear how it's done. Frankly i'mm annoyed that she has all that wonderful material and a supposedly good record label such a short, mediocre album; and looks set to tour endlessly around the USA and ignore the other 95% of the world's population. Saw Catie Curtis at the Borderline on Friday, she was excellent. EM Going to see Mary Gauthier there next week. --- adamk@zoom.co.uk wrote: > As always, a tad late on the uptake, but I just > wanted to > put my tuppence worth in. So, if anyone within the sound of my fingers tapping on the key's has some nice quality pictures of either the Ark performance, AND OR the Borders in-store form earlier that day, I could really use some help. As it is, the tour dates in the U.S. are still being confirmed and updated on a weekly basis, with West Coast dates just being announced last week. I'm sure if it's in her tour manager's plans for her to hop across the ocean and visit the U.K. it will be after she's covered the U.S. pretty well and at a time when she can do more than just one show. Travel's not cheap and it really doesn't matter what Catie Curtis does or doesn't do - things are different for Patty. If you really want her to go there, contact her management and let them know that there's enough of a fan base there to make it worth her while. None of us can make it happen, so your whining is just irritating. (that's just my opinion though - if anyone thinks the whining serves a useful purpose, by all means let me know). I got my copy yesterday and found that I was a little disappointed. There are some sporadic gems (Rain, Nobody's Crying, Stolen Car), but perhaps the rest will grow on me with time. So, here's me, standing up for the accordian. I must say that after listening to 1000 Kisses for the millionth time I actually craved a little Flaming Red. I love, love, love her slow music--I think it's the best she does--where the lyrics and her great voice come off the best --- but if 1000 kisses mixed it up a bit more like Silver Bell does it might be better.
