Hi, I know what tracks were planned to be included on Patty's cancelled "Silver Bell" album, but does anyone recall what the proposed songlist order was going to be? If not, how about the songlist order on the advance CDs Interscope sent out for review? And finally, was the cover art for Silver Bell ever displayed anywhere and if so, does anyone have it online so I can view it? Any answers appreciated, Alan ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Mar 2002 17:42:49 EST From: Songbird22@aol.com Subject: Re: MM: cheap seats Mark writes: > I saw Patty and The Badlees in Killington VT at a club called The Pickle > Barrel (great place!) for $6. The Badlees rock ;) I am recording my album w/ them right now (well, w/ 3 of them) and they are all extremely nice people, fun to work with, and great musicians. Paul, Ron, and Bret put out an album last year as The Cellarbirds which I'd highly recommend. www.thecellarbirds.com. :) jess www.jessicaweiser.com | www.aftersilence.net new album AFTER SILENCE available 4/2002 ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Mar 2002 18:25:44 -0500 From: Mike Connell Subject: Re: MM: Silver Bell tracklist order/cover art? Below is what I posted back then as far as what I was told by her management regarding the "final" tracklist and cover art. I do not think anyone here ever posted that they actually HAD the advance CD nor what the cover art on that might have looked like. Mike ________ From summer 2000.... Rich said: >And oh yeah, PATTY NEWS: >The new album is slated for September 2000 release. It will be called >"Silverbell." The cover art (for now) shows Patty sitting on the edge of >one of those "above ground" swimming pools, wearing a floral sundress >and looking a bit sad. Once I get my scanner fixed I can download a >picture to anyone who wants to post it on their site... just let me >know... I contacted Patty's management to verify what I could, and most of the above is indeed correct! :-) (new CD in a few months!!! :-) The artwork he mentions however is not necessarily even being considered, as I was told "the artwork has not been done yet so no one knows what the cover will look like". As for that shot with Patty on the edge of the swimming pool, that WAS taken by a photographer named Sam Jones during an L.A. photo shoot of "old funky motels", as they put it. (i.e. fitting in with the subject of "Silver Bell"). The swimming pool shot is being used by Interscope on a postcard that is being handed out at the Dixie Chicks shows and was sent out to some industry and retail folks. (I forgot....did Rich eventually post a URL with a scan of that photo?) As Rich said, the album is now scheduled for a September release, although no exact date has been set as of yet. At this time, it looks like the final sequence for the album will be the following songs: Little God Boston Perfect White Girls Truth #2 What You Are Silver Bell Driving Sooner Or Later Top Of The World Sorry And Sad Making Pies Mother Of God One More Girl Standing They also sent this disclaimer. "Naturally, the disclaimer is, as always, all this can change but its the truth for now" ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Mar 2002 18:48:07 -0500 From: "Ellen Schneidenbach" Subject: MM: Patty's new music & cheap seats.... It's 1981, I'm a college freshman and I hear that ex-Zappa drummer Chester Thompson (then on tour with Genesis) was playing this night at our local place The Ice House in Pasadena, CA (sadly this place has been "comedy" only since 1985). Holds about 75, cost $6 to get in, about 20 patrons showed up. Chester on drums, a funk style guitarist, a bluesy-rock type guitarist, some bass player who went by the name "Earthquake" and a female singer on a couple tunes. I had no idea what they were going to play. Turned out to be 2 hours of funky rock and blues, just great material and truly awesome musicianship. Made quite an impression on me, 18 years old in the front row with my feet propped up on the edge of the stage. Quite incredible really! Apologies to all you folk oriented Patty fans who probably don't care about this...LOL! MH in LA PS-I've heard exactly nothing of "The Chester Thompson Band" since this show, does anyone know of his solo recordings or shows that have gone done in the last 20 years?? Any help is appreciated..... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Mar 2002 19:46:52 EST From: Kaycee973@aol.com Subject: Re: MM: First single? lbalcom24@adelphia.net would like me to stop posting in caps. my computer program at work needs caps on so i can work. please move on to more important things. thanks ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Mar 2002 21:22:20 -0500 From: Mike Connell Subject: MM: Info on Patty at Tower Records in Philadelphia April 12th Hi all :-) While some of you already knew about a Tower Records appearance by Patty on April 12th, I just got an email from the marketer of Tower Records with more information on this gig. It's below. Mike :-) Patty Griffin will be appearing at Tower Records on the Avenue of the Arts, Philadelphia for an in-store performance and will be signing copies of her new cd '1000 Kisses' on Friday April 12 at 6pm. Your story about Chester Thompson _is_ the kind I like to see on a board. Even if some here may claim it's "off-topic" --- I humbly ask any who might say that to come forward and, you know, throw the first stone --- I suggest that MH's story is on topic for some of the reasons all of us MMers like PG: thoughtful and honest storytelling. So, MH, your reward is my pointing you to www.chesterthompson.com, which will lead you to a link for his first solo album released on Camino Records, A Joyful Noise (1999). Of course, one of the great web music encyclopedia sites is www.allmusic.com. Look up ole Chester there. MMers, if you're not familiar with the All Music Guide, may I point you all there to look up PG and anyone else your heart desires. Cheers...MW ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V6 #107 *********************************
