Whatever some of you may say, Britney Spears must really be something to get so many of you REAL music fans to talk about her so much. Oh well. God bless me. Jessica, Don't let the buggers grind you down. I know what it's like as I once got "into trouble" for speaking my mind on another board. One of those dissenters actually told me where I live and what they were going to do to me, my family and my house. I try to keep everything private on emails but this one was able to spook me big time. Nothing did happen and I did stop posting for a good while but then thought to heck with that and started posting again. Take time off but don't let them win even if you can do without the stress, of which I can recommend meditation but that's another story. Peace to you and yours, Alan Teather ( UK) Who do you know who would like some extra income now the credit cards are biting? Have them email me for details. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-mad-mission@smoe.org [mailto:owner-mad-mission@smoe.org]On Behalf Of Jessica Boyer Sent: 26 March 2002 17:41 To: mad-mission@smoe.org Subject: MM: enough. ok, ok, i give in. i can't take it anymore, and i see no reason to. i am relatively new to this subscription list. i joined hoping to learn a little more about Patty and meet some more of her fans, and have intelligent discussion with others who feel passionately about the same music i do. now, people are emailing me individually just to insult me. obviously there are a few of you in here who benefit from bashing ideas and speaking rudely and closedminded-ly (ok, you can make fun of that if you want, yeah, i made it up.) but either you are on the wrong list, or i am. please don't get me wrong, i have met a few people in here with intelligent things to offer and the willingness to listen to new ideas. i have learned a few new things about Patty and have enjoyed our discussions. but my life is too stressful already to need even a couple strangers telling me what to think, or attacking the basis for any of my beliefs or traits. don henn: thanks for the link, i tried. oh well! :) sadly, jhesi boyer, unsubscribed the Dictionary.com definition: close-mind7ed (klsmndd, klz-) or closed-mind7ed (klzd-)adj. Intolerant of the beliefs and opinions of others; stubbornly unreceptive to new ideas. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Mar 2002 08:38:48 -0500 From: Gary Jacques Subject: [none] Fri 04/12/02 Patty Griffin Tower Records Philadelphia, PA ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Mar 2002 16:16:10 +0000 From: xenacrazy@att.net Subject: Re: MM: just don't want to see it disappear I'll never forget the time I walked into Coconuts (way overpriced music store) and saw a slot for Eleanor McEvoy, but no cds...so I asked if they might have any in the back...when I told him her name, he laughed in my face. Hi, all, As I was flippin' thru the latest Esquire this morning at the car dealer(waiting for an oil change). I happened upon a little blurb about Patty titled, "The Next Emmylou Harris" talking about the upcoming release of "1000 Kisses" Made me smile a little during the interminable wait for the "service." ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Mar 2002 09:55:16 -0800 From: aadler@juno.com Subject: MM: Internet is changing 'the biz' I don't think any of us have to worry about good music disappearing. The internet is allowing more and more people to do things themselves on their own terms. Kris Delmhorst is not signed to any record, but she has already released two fantastic CDs on her own, and there are thousands out there doing the same. Anyone who enjoys really good music with depth to it will seek it out, and as long as we all continue to spread the word about these artists, they'll be able to find an audience. They may not be playing to sold-out arenas or have videos in heavy rotation on MTV, but I don't think any of us really wants to see that happen with Patty or any of our other favorite 'small' artists. I know it's not specifically Patty related, but have I mentioned how great Kris Delmhorst is? ; P Aaron ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Yes If you only want to hear about Patty, you should subscribe to the news-only list. This is an open discussion forum and will stay that way until it gets too big to handle and Mike changes the rules for the list (and trust me, we're REALLY far away from that). If you don't want to read anything non-Patty, pay attention to subject lines and use your delete button freely- I know I do. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Mar 2002 09:16:49 -0500 From: "Don Henn" Subject: MM: NPC ! - Heated discussion MMers , Been following the "sex appeal" discussion , but didn't feel the urge to post until now. What bothers me most during these little snits are the ones who cave in to the "misery loves company" crowd , & unsubscribe , moving our list in their direction , & "empowering" them. That , of course , is what they want you to do - makes them feel important. If the insulters were ignored , & relegated to a blip on the screen , they would lose interest. If open-minded people give up , close- minded people rule. Those who decide to leave , give up the best source for early & informative Patty news there is , & hurt themselves more they bother the instigators.
