The ATO label site does not yet have a pre-order available, but would that be the best way to purchase? I would think the label would make more if we purchased directly from them, but is that really the case? Would Patty make more from a direct ATO purchase? Or, would it give Patty's sales more oomph if we purchased in the general marketplace from Amazon.com or CD Now or such? If Amazon.com or CD Now noticed that the CD was moving, would they then perhaps feature the CD on their web site thereby giving Patty more exposure and ultimately even more sales? I'd appreciate any thoughts on this. If these grrls are coming anywhere near you, GO SEE THEM. They're wacky and zany and have a ton of fun together which makes you, as an audience member, have a ton of fun as well. Not to mention WONDERFUL voices and such creative talent. Apparently we, at the Ark, got a real treat because they found a Yamaha synth backstage and fooled around with it. You know, with the Samba and Rumba backbeats. They brought it on stage with them and let us hear some of their silly antics that actually sounded good! (they claimed it was their Abba-style rendition of the songs) Anyways, it was an excellent show and I highly suggest picking up their cd and checking out a show, if you can! :) Did any other missioners go last night? Did anyone *record* it!?!?! (long shot, but i had to ask!) My band mates and I were feeling drained and uninspired and decided to see if they could get the 'juices' flowing again. It was great to see young women singing their hearts out. We bought the collaborative disc that they've got out...it's good...but as with most artists, does no justice to their live show. One thing that still sticks out in my mind is their silly performance of 'Tainted Love'. I agree with Sarah...if you get the opportunity to go see them (or even just one of them), take it!! They have a pretty decent website too.... www.voicesontheverge.com My two cents, Erin - -----Original Message----- From: owner-mad-mission@smoe.org [mailto:owner-mad-mission@smoe.org]On Behalf Of Sarah Stanley Sent: Monday, February 25, 2002 8:47 AM To: mad-mission@smoe.org Subject: MM: NPC: Voices on the Verge I just wanted to say that I went to the Voices on the Verge show last night in Ann Arbor, MI (at the Ark) and was completely blown away, as I knew I would be. I thought someone said she was playing with a full band there. I am suprised if this is true. Does anyone know if she will be with a band or not? I don't think I got as good of seats as I could have since I found out about the tickets after they went on sale. Thank goodness someone on the list posted they were on sale. The keswick doesn't seem to always be current on the announcements or web page. Of course, now I hear about Patty playing there on XPN all the time. I don't know if she'll get more of a cut if you buy from her label. I doubt it. But if you buy two from Amazon.com, then she will move higher on their charts, and have a better chance of getting noticed by others. Just my two cents. I dunno about Patty, but I happened to be at the pattygriffin.net site eralier today (hoping "Tomorrow Night" had been put on the Media page...)and happened to notice that any time you follow the CDNow link from the site and then make a purchase, 6% of the purchase price goes back to Jen. She's spending a fair chunk of change to keep this site up and runnin', so maybe a CDNow purchase would be your best option... By the by -- someone posted earlier that they'd downloaded the 3 cuts from the ATO site onto Audio Galaxy, but I can't seem to get the audiogalaxy.com page to open... Or any other file share programs to download or function... Is there some sort of copywright related moratorium on all file share programs now? I gotta tell ya' though, I purchased Alanis' CD, Under Rug Swept online, and it isn't released until tomorrow, but I received it in the mail this past Saturday! They told me it would ship on the 26th. I used to work for an entertainment company and they were heavily fined for stocking an item on the shelf before its release date, so I don't know how they pulled it off. However, the thought that I could listen to Patty's CD three days before its actual release date tempts me to try this trick again. Has anyone else experienced this with an on-line retailer? Usually if you choose the overnight, or 2 day shipping the item WILL get there before the release date. :-) I guessthey sent them early because they're afraid if you choose that option & it's NOT there on the release that you might go EVIL on them (ala Gary) .. LOL I would definitely preorder the CD & choose overnight or 2nd day shipping if you want to take the chance on getting it early!
