I hate to sound like a broken record (seems like I posted this 5 times in the last year), but will those of you who INSIST on quoting entire posts PLEASE stop it? (today has been an exceptionally bad day for this) Quoting is of course necessary most of the time, but you really only have to include whatever is necessary to support your point. This is especially a drag when people entirely quote a long post and/or a few each entirely quote the same post, long or not. Not only is it a drag to weed through such repeated text (especially when on mad-mission-digest), it's a colossal waste of archival space on smoe.orgs' hard-drives. Please, edit what you quote and only include what is really needed. I think that over the last year or two, I have received as many E-mails through it as I do in a week on my other list, and I like all the useless crap--however would I have found out that I don't like Dar Williams, but that I really like Katell Keineg? I get about 300 E-mails a day (but I digest) on the Uncle Tupel/Wilco/SonVolty/Replacement, etc list. Check out www.postcardfromhell.com if anyone is looking for a full in-box that has lead me to huindreds of great albums. Sean I understand that the same thing happens on other lists, too....off subject stuff, etc. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 15 Feb 2002 00:45:55 -0500 From: "Lisa Zwick" Subject: Re: MM: Disgruntled OMG! You LIKE her!?!? I got her cd for a buck (never heard of her before) along with Eleanor McEvoy, Eliza Carthy, and others...and I couldn't even bear to listen to Katell Keineg's cd even once. I still have it but only because i haven't figured out what to do with it. Should I give her a chance, tho? Does it get better with time, etc? - -XC - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sean and Rebecca Courtney" To: Sent: Friday, February 15, 2002 12:16 AM Subject: Re: MM: Disgruntled > >however would I have > found out that I don't like Dar Williams, but that I really like Katell > Keineg? > > Sean ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Feb 2002 22:05:03 -0800 From: aadler@juno.com Subject: MM: Re: Katell Keinig IMHO, if someone doesn't like Dar and loves Katell, that tells you something right there. I personally like lots of Dar's stuff and have hated anything by Katell that I've heard. They're very different. We all like Patty, so our tastes intersect at one point, but don't spend too much time trying to like someone just because they're recommended by someone on this list. We all listen to music for different reasons and get different things out of it. That being said, if I haven't already recommended her to the list, Kris Delmhorst is an excellent singer/songwriter/folkie from the Boston scene whom I recommend to all who appreciate well-crafted lyrics with a little bit of wit, a whole lot of heart, and a beautiful voice conveying it all. Her most recent CD, Five Stories, is a phenomenal piece of work.
