It will be a lot of the songs that are on the current EP "Down To Earth", (maybe some of them re-done) as well as some other new AMAZING songs that I've been hearing her sing live on an almost weekly basis. I believe the new CD will be due out around the end of 2001 to the beginning of 2002. I can't wait! Darcie may or may not be able to elaborate on this due to record label things?? I don't really know.. ?? Darcie!?!? Darcie, stop reading here!.. I just think it's incredibly exciting that a 17 year old singer/songwriter who happens to live only 20 or so miles away from me, and who is also on THIS very emailing list is signed nationally! Does she ever talk to fans? Many times she doesn't come out until she's ready to leave , but you can usually give things you want signed to her road manager , who will take them to her for signing. When she has an exit away from the fans , it often happens that you never see her. I only recall one time that she came out early , at the Ark. She seemed relaxed & gracious , posing for pictues , signing , & talking animatedly for a long time. I think her shows generally take a lot out of her , & I can appreciate her wanting to de-compress afterwards. At Starr Hill , one of her friends from Maine was in the audience , & I imagine that she was meeting with her & her friends after the show. At Birchmere she said she had been in Cambodia & Vietnam a few months earlier working with some group , & some of those that she had met there were in the audience. She dedicated "Mary" to them , & I guess she was visiting with them after the show. Any dates later this year? Interlochen , MI. Thurs , Aug. 16 , opening for Emmylou. The Ark. Ann Arbor , MI. Fri , Aug 17. kinda getting worried about my obsession with her music Funny thing , I never worried about mine. As long as it's channeled productively , it eventually fades to mere over-enthusiasm. I used to be pretty active on this list but as school has begun to take over my life - it's gotten harder to post... but I still read. I maintain the Patty mp3 page (well.. not so much right now since I'm away from home). Just a little background info on myself. I have had the honor of attending 3 Patty Griffin concerts with Don Henn. I will attend my 4th with Don on my birthday - August 17th. At each concert I have been to with Don he has sat quietly observing the amazing woman on stage. His behavior has never once been loud or inappropriate. From what I can tell, the one time that Don had a few drinks before a show and had a great time enjoying Patty with his (and my) friend Dave, he gets accused of being rude and what not. I cannot believe the way he has been written about in these last 2-3 days. Don is probably the most generous person on this list. About a year ago I ran a contest for some rare CD samplers and poster (unfortunately, the man who was supposed to distribute these cds and posters failed to do so after numerous mails from me pleading him to do so). 5 people were selected randomly to get the cds and 5 were chosen by the list. People submitted ballots for themselves, and also voted on a list member that they thought most deserved the cd. Don Henn.... the same man being talked so negatively about, got the 2nd most votes out of everyone else on the list... I think that speaks something of his character and "true-fan-ess". Last April at the Ark, when Patty came out to talk to fans that had lingered - we all fled to the stage to greet her. Don, stood in the background, letting others greet the woman who has meant so much to his life. Nobody thinks more about other people than this man. I am absolutely disgusted at the way he has been treated lately. Don, I hope that when we go to the show at the Ark on my birthday that you will join me in screaming for "Nobody's Crying" - my all time favorite song. Only during the appluase though of course... Shame on you, Aimee. - - Jen *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ AIM: traDMB http://www-personal.engin.umich.edu/~jcaputo/ And the night and I go hand to hand Breast to breast Woman to woman Night and I go quietly We go softly Screaming all the way - Patty GriffinGet more from the Web. ALMOST all the tracks from 'dte'; we had to make room for the new/better ones. the record's gonna be a bit more rockin' and also some of those good ol' folk songs..."colour me divine" for instance. anyways, can't give away all the details, but i hope you'll like it! - ---as for don, i happen to enjoy when people show their appreciation by calling out songs and yelling your name at concerts, hell i do it too. it just shows the crowd really digs you. :) stop the madness! ~darc http://www.darcieminer.com - ----- Original Message ----- From: FlamingRed74@cs.com Sent: Monday, August 06, 2001 10:46 PM To: rodnorton@acsworld.net Cc: mad-mission@smoe.org Subject: Re: MM: Other Artist's Release Dates >Any word on when a new DARCIE MINER release may be coming?????> As far as I know the record company wants her to go back into the studio as soon as possible to record a full length CD. I received 2 packages of blanks cd's and i'll email those 2 peeps as I can. But, before I burn the CDs, I wanted to ask those of you who have seen patty recently if you can send me an mp3 (160ish kb) of Tony? since it is 2 audio cd's there will be a bunch of space on the 2nd and i'd love to have all the songs she's doing right now... Also my tape flipped over on top of the world, so if anyone could send me an mp3 of that I'd REALLY appreciate it and so would the 10 people that are sending me cd's to make for them :) We'll give you an online standing ovation and I'll boot any cd's you want off my collection if you send the cd's ... look here to see what I have - http://boots.acousticgrrl.com If you can send them email that would be great -- send to kiersten@hers.com as that account can take up to 5 megs an email. If not you can create a free yahoo webdrive by going here: http://briefcase.yahoo.com then tell me the name of it and i can then get the stuff (you have to click on the file once you've uploaded it and click on allow others to get it). Finally if none of these work for you please send them to my friend's ftp at: ftp://ftp.rojisan.com go to the folder incoming and upload them binary (of course) there. if you have win me that's built in now if you go to my network places and create an entry using the addy above. it wasn't working for a hour or so earlier but it should be back up very soon. If you could do this in a day or two the people who just sent cd's would greatly appreciate the extra files :) And of course if she did anytihng else that wasn't on the birchmere list I'd just have to come and kiss you if you send those too! heehee :) here's the list again in case you didn't read it the first time :) As for other boot traders, i'll get back to you as soon as i can :) Take Care! - --Kiersten Carry Me Truth # 2 Poor Man's house Perfect White Girls Mad Mission Change Florida Be Careful Flaming Red Chief Rain Stolen Car Top of the World Mary Encore: Sweet Lorraine Tomorrow Night Ten Million Miles ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 7 Aug 2001 00:38:10 EDT From: Danalee7@aol.com Subject: MM: audience I just read the last flurry of posts about the audience and I just want to chime in that I have been to 2 Patty concerts with Don and he was the perfect gentleman- can't imagine him being anything else- same with Dave who I also met once for dinner! It is great when the audience shows enthusiastic response to a singer - I love it- it is very encouraging to them I would imagine also. The audience at Slims was totally enthused over Patty, and Don and I were loving it. It was wonderful to see Patty get that kind of applause. It was HER audience- which I think must have felt good to her since she was in the middle of the Chicks tour, trying to sing to the Chicks fans. Audience reaction is part of the live concert experience- it is never as perfect as at home on a CD player- but live is so much better. Wish I was there with you guys at these concerts- but we are going to see Catie Curtis here in San Francisco on Sept 8, so all is not lost! Cheers- we love you Don- Dana in Berkeley ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V5 #194 *********************************
