I don't know, I think Ummagumma was a good record in it's day. Ah Floyd, probably the most overrated band of all time. Pretentious stage shows and endless guitar diarrhoea. You know that they got on with each other so badly that they were never in the studio at the same time when they recorded their music. The music would be written and then they would take it in turns to go into the studio and record their parts! Over inflated egos and bank balances. What? Those perverts! Why, I bet they've got bestiality pix for sale too. Making money off of rich and famous people is wrong. Making money off of vastly underrated musicians is totally worse. It's porn. Porn, I tell ya. Porno. porn-o-mo. Report those peeps to the proper authori-tah. Then they must respect it. Then the policeman could say, "Respect mah authori-tah" whilst bludgeoning the shins of the "perp." something or ruther about punk bands having all attitude and no talent. uh, wow. Let's talk about attitude for a moment. Folk is good and punk is bad? Sounds like a pretty elitist attitude to me. Plus, working by yourself is much easier on the "attitude" than working with others. There's no sharing involved when you solo. Working with a band is harder than you think. What kind of comparison is that, anyway? That's like saying Voltron is better than the Transformers. Maybe we should scorn punk music and only listen to easy listening and Yani. Wouldn't life be swell? Then we can go fishing, son. Aw gee, dad, life is swell. It's so swell that the English government has security cameras set up all over the country to "prevent crime." no talent? Well, I'm no human being or anything, but I seem to recall acoustic guitar being one of the easiest instruments to play. Many a Christian camp counselor will pick up a guitar one day, and be singing and playing songs in about two weeks to little kiddies. Hell, even Roy Clark has guitar tab books for sale demonstrating how you can be playing the thing in hours. Electric guitar? A little harder than that. Yes, Patty Griffin definitely needs to continue her punk trend. She's already got the fashion, especially those sexy boots. ROWWRLLL. She just needs that extra little boost to achieve nirvana. I'm off to write a paper on film. Either that or actually work a few hours. Or go to the bars, it's almost noon. Decisions decisions. The electric guitar can cover up your mistakes more than an acoustic guitar. You can play the same thing you play on an acoustic guitar on an electric guitar, and see that you need to be more precise with your fingering on the acoustic. A guitar is an easy instrument to learn in the sense that you play songs only knowing a few chords. ~ Riff "Don't just exist. No band was more creative or innovative. Love is the shadow that ripens the wine. Set the controls for the heart of the sun. "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" You say the hill's too steep to climb Climb it. You say you'd like to see me try climbing. You pick the place and I'll choose the time And I'll climb that hill in my own way. "Fearless" For long you live and high you fly But only if you ride the tide Balanced on the biggest wave You race towards an early grave. "Breathe" I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, Like the most of us... Very hard to explain why you're mad, Even if you're not mad... "Speak to Me" Down and out It can't be helped but There's a lot of it about. With, without. And who'll deny it's what The fighting's all about? "Us and Them" The lunatic is in my head You raise the blade, You make the change You re-arrange me 'til I'm sane. You lock the door And throw away the key There's someone in my head But it's not me. "Brain Damage" You were caught on the crossfire Of childhood and stardom, Blown on the steel breeze. "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (Parts I-V) Shine on you crazy diamond. And we'll bask in the shadow Of yesterday's triumph, And sail on the steel breeze. Come on you boy child, You winner and loser, Come on you miner for truth and delusion, And shine! "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (Parts VI-IX) Welcome my son, Welcome to the machine. What did you dream? It's alright We told you what to dream. "Welcome to the Machine" So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, Blue skys from pain. Can you tell a green field From a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell? ******************** Running over the Same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. "Wish you Were Here" So I don't feel alone, Or the weight of the stone, Now that I've found somewhere safe To bury my bone. And any fool knows a dog needs a home, A shelter from pigs on the wing. "Pigs On the Wing 2" Hush now baby, baby, dont you cry. Mother's gonna make all your nightmares come true. Mother's gonna put all her fears into you. Mother's gonna keep you right here under her wing. She wont let you fly, but she might let you sing. "Mother" Hello...? Yes, a collect call for Mrs. Floyd from Mr. Floyd. Will you accept the charges from United States? Oh, he hung up! That's your residence, right? I wonder why he hung up? Is there supposed to be someone else there besides your wife there to answer? Hello? This is United States calling, are we reaching... See , he keeps hanging up, ....and it's a man answering. "Young Lust" Hey you, don't help them to bury the light Don't give in without a fight. ************************ Hey you, standing in the road Always doing what you're told, Can you help me? ************************* Hey you, don't tell me there's no hope at all Together we stand, divided we fall. "Hey You" When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse Out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look but it was gone I cannot put my finger on it now The child is grown, The dream is gone. I have become Comfortably numb. "Comfortably Numb" You better run all day And run all night. Keep your dirty little feelings Deep inside. "Run Like Hell" And when they've given you their all Some stagger and fall, after all it's not easy Banging your heart against Some mad bugger's wall. "Outside the Wall" They flutter behind you your possible pasts, Some bright-eyed and crazy, Some frightened and lost. A warning to anyone still in command Of their possible future , to take care *************************** By the cold and religious we were taken in hand Shown how to feel good and told to feel bad. Tongue tied and terrified we learned how to pray Now our feelings run deep and cold as the clay. "Your Possible Pasts" No more turning away From the weak and the weary No more turning away From the coldness inside Just a world that we all must share It's not enough just to stand and stare Is it only a dream that there'll be No more turning away? "On the Turning Away" Is there anybody out there? "Is There Anybody Out There" 'nuff said.
