All the while A&M keeps recording idiots like Eminem, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie and Dr. Dre. I myself will e-mail A&M Records...(amrecords.com) and tell them what a bunch of jerks they are. I'm sure Patty will come out of this smelling like a rose somehow, but it looks like quite a wait for us. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 04 Jun 2001 00:39:35 -0400 From: Bernie Filipski Subject: MM: Masters I was under the impression that Patty got the rights and masters to the Silver Bell project. The Hendrickson piece in Rage said the bastards at Interscope retained them. I hope he's wrong. I can't sleep now--- does anyone know the real story? I personally think it'd be amazing if she went the DIY route and ran a little record label like Ani D or Jonatha Brooke... they're both extremely successful on their own... Aimee Mann too... It's great that more people are doing this on their own, without the help of a label... Labels work great for some artists, but I've heard so many (horror) stories like this... know someone who was dropped by Mercury a few years ago and it was a sad thing, but she's better off on her own... she's done great independently (Emm Gryner. You should check her out)... Ugh. I was looking so forward to hearing "Little God"... I love that song... I'm sure it will be worth the wait... jessica new album BECOMING available now! www.jessicaweiser.com | www.mp3.com/jessweiser www.aftersilence.net ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 4 Jun 2001 01:06:35 EDT From: BenALongYear@aol.com Subject: Re: MM: Re: "Silver Bell" article Oh yeah, one more thing. I'm on the Todd Snider list, and a big TS fan. He records for Ohboy records which is John Prines label. (I believe Prine owns the label) It's good because he can release the songs he wants, the way he wants them released. It's bad because he can't afford to hire a band to travel with him on the road, so he does all his shows solo, with an acoustic guitar. That really limits what songs he does on the road. I saw him in Chicago at Schubas, he was excellent but could've used a band. That's the down side of recording on a small "indi" label. It's hard to believe that the "big" record co's will not be falling over each other to record Patty, but at the same time, looking at the garbage being released by the "big" record co's, it's not hard to believe.
