MMers & Elizabeth , Looks like hopes for an album release are terminal & Patty's finally scheduling. I'm afraid that there's no secret list , or way of figuring these things out in advance. The earliest info on Patty usually comes from this list or Pollstar. I'm hoping that Patty is going to start scheduling her own shows at her favorite haunts or opens more shows with Emmylou. Emmylou's tour will be taking her across the country , & Patty opened for 5-10 of her shows during last years tour. Emmylou is a big Patty fan. When Patty opened for her in Greensburg last year , the first thing Emmylou said was that it was a big thrill to be on the same bill as Patty Griffin. In another venue she said that she been in the business many years , & thought she'd seen it all , then Patty came along with such beauty & poetry in her music , that she wondered how we ever got along without it. Anyway , Emmylou also has an August date at the Keswick in Philly where Patty opened for her last year , where a lot of listers met up.Lister Karla was the first one to give a heads-up on that one. I'm hoping to see her name again soon , giving us the good news. Emmylou will also be in Austin in July. Tickets are on sale for Atlanta thru Ticketmaster. For Interlochen , MI , all I have so far is the number for Kresge Auditorium , which I will be calling on Monday. 213-276-6230. By the way , I saw the Patty & Emmylou show twice last year , & Emmylou was great. The only thing better would be Emmylou opening for Patty. Hope everyone gets a chance to see Patty this year. In the battle of time In the battle of will It's only your hope And your heart That gets killed Patty Griffin "Sweet Lorraine" Don > So I'm out in California looking for ANY chance to see Patty. I noticed that Emmylou Harris has a few dates in July but she has no opening act announced. Does anyone know how to figure things like this out in advance? Is there some secret list of Patty's performances that I'm not finding? I really don't want to miss her! > Thanks for any suggestions... > Elizabeth ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 May 2001 01:57:56 -0400 From: Nikki Wheeler Subject: Re: MM: Patty in MI & Philly At 10:44 AM 05/19/2001 EDT, FlamingRed74@cs.com wrote: >Ann Arbor has a great venue (The Ark) which is perfect for Patty's solo >shows. This is a compilation of Patty's best , original , unreleased music. Those of you who want a copy , E-mail me with LFML in the subject line , & your name & address in the message section. Those who volunteered to be branches , that have their copy from Jen C. , send me your E-mails , so I can forward the requests. donhenn@msn.com All thanks are due to Jen Powelson(Mystchif) , who did all the work compiling & organizing , & who is working on another 2-CD set with more original Patty music , covers , & duets , & Jennifer Caputo. Jen C. (along with a number of others) supported Jen P.'s efforts by sending whatever rare or high quality sound Patty music she had , to add to this excellent set. She also initiated this new tree , & sent out copies to the branches. I'm only organizing this , receiving & forwarding requests , b/c she is overwhelmed with schoolwork at the moment. Of course , thanks are also due Patty for creating this great music , & Mike Connell for the often thankless job of setting up & maintaining this list , including being a referee on occasion. I'll leave you with a great Ani DiFranco quote. I've been getting Ani quotes from a few listers recently , & looking up a few to use myself. It only takes a few minutes for a great one to jump out at me. Ani's lyrics are the closest thing I've seen to Patty's , & considering that I've only seen a fraction of them , she MAY be as good as Patty in that department. I haven't even heard her yet , but got a compilation of favorites from a lister , & am looking forward to playing it during my Nashville/Patty trip. I did not design this game I did not name the stakes I just happen to like apples And I am not afraid of snakes Ani DiFranco "Angel Food" Don ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 May 2001 02:45:43 -0400 From: "Donald Henn" Subject: MM: error MMers , Made a mistake on the Ani DiFranco quote. It's not from "Angel Food"(my last Ani quote), It's from "Adam & Eve". I'm not stressed over it , if I ever stop making dumb mistakes , then I'll start worrying. I was so excited to hear that Emmy Lou Harris was playing at the Keswick Theater on Aug 6. I found out weeks ago. But to my dismay, Roy, the manager of the Keswick, told me that there was no opening act sheduled as of yet. I will keep you all abreast of this, as I wait holding my breath......Karla Ps. Hopefully Don, Dave and I will be having dinner together Aug 6, and who knows maybe the Evil One will show up at our table. Would be nice to catch up on each others lives. :-) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 May 2001 08:38:22 -0700 From: "Jeff Gebhardt" Subject: MM: Re: When was Patty last in SF? > As for playing San Fran.. she WAS just there late last year sometime. Patty palyed Slim's in SF late last June, on an off-date during the Dixie Chicks tour. I saw her at Slim's on Thursday, then saw her as the opening act for the Chicks in Sacramento the next night. She was warmly received at both places, so I have confidence she'll be back to SF sooner or later. Like maybe when she finally gets a new record deal!!!
