Delete NOW. Okay, so this isn't even MUSIC related. Sorry, but since I've just noticed that there are hordes of people on this list from Boston, I have to ask a question. Uh, has anyone heard of Emerson College? Is that any good for communication/journalism/broadcasting? I ask this because they are constantly sending me stuff in the mail, and I'm not too thrilled of grad school life at the University of West Florida. It's okay, but I like big cities. From the propaganda lit, Emerson sounds kinda small but that's okay too. As this has nothing to do with the almighty Patty Griffin (bless her), email me privately. One more reason why Patty Griffin's next release is scheduled later...the new Offspring (November 14, same day as Manson). On another tangent, it's good to hear that Dave is comfortably numb these days. And Yeah, it is amazing how listening to Patty Griffin can bring you to tears. Sort of like when someone walks out of a bar leaving an unfinished Guinness behind. Well, no. I guess those would different tears, wouldn't it? Kind of like tears of joy versus tears of bewilderment. Oh well. I know SOMEDAY I'll get to compare Patty Griffin to Guinness and it will make sense. That day is coming, I can feel it. In one week (and counting) I'm up at my undergrad homecoming for some binge drinking like a whore time. I'm so excited that my nips are hard. Main Street Ice Teas will be flowing like water, baby. Me and my drinking buddy/fellow alumni Jessica will be needing liver transplants after next weekend. We rock! Oh, on a completely unrelated note, and since this email is all about me anyways *gag*,anyone who wants a semi-funny story should email me. It's an email I originally wrote to Jess (see above) recently, but I'm still amused by the whole thing; and since I usually don't delete my sent messages for a couple of weeks, I'll just pull it up and forward it on. ME ME ME! WHY IS IT ALWAYS ABOUT ME? Okay, I'm adding music in with this. I was flipping radio stations yesterday and I came across something that made me stop the car and dry heave. There I was, sitting innocently in the car, listening to bad and good music, flipping whenever I got tired of whatever song was on. Then I hit this one station that made my eyeballs pop out of their sockets. While swerving around at top speed trying to pop them back in, I just had to ask myself "why?". I'm referring here to the fact that some band just remade "Break on Through" by the Doors. I mean, come on. There are some songs you just can't touch. Like anything by Simon and Garfunkle...you just CAN'T redo them. I'm not saying that the Doors were the best group in the universe, but for some reason there are songs where it's understood that you can't cover. And this version was living proof of why. I mean, there wasn't even any keyboards for crying out loud. It's kind of ironic that I saw the Australian Doors in concert when I was in Dublin Ireland....and I really enjoyed it alot. They looked like the Doors, sounded like the Doors. But I guess that's why it sounded so good. They were showing propers when they put on that show. They weren't releasing THEIR version of "Break on Through" to the radio rock stations. bleah. I just thought what I heard yesterday was incredibly tasteless. Anyway... Thanks for all the Keswick reviews!! As always, I lived vicariously through them to enjoy the fantasy that I didn't have to drive 6 hours to see her open for the Dixie Chicks. It almost made me feel as if I was there. Living. Breathing. Getting coke spilled on me by the clutz in the next seat. Feeling the bright lights. Listening to that incredible voice. Sharing some beautiful alcohol before the show at the Tavern across the street. *sniff sniff* going now. My 312 lbs is up. peace love and vegetable rights. paul ********************************* * Life's under no obligation * * to give us what we * * expect. * * -- Margaret Mitchell * ********************************* _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
