We are in a Patty concert drought as well since she is touring with the Chicks and not doing many solo concerts. Well a while ago I mentioned this really good concert tape someone gave me and offered it for a tape tree, but no one seems to be interested in being CD or tape branches, etc. Patty was in great form at this concert last spring and the recording is pretty good I think. It is a shame that more of you can't enjoy it. Other lists seem to be able to support tape trees regularly and the members really benefit from the effort. These tapes are never sold of course- matter of honor. So, I would make a few - maybe the first 20- interested MMers a copy if they send me a blank 90 min Maxell XL11 high bias tape with SASE- bubble pak. E-mail me privately if you are interested. Love to share Patty. I just got back from the Albany show. I absolutely loved it except that 1)someone else had a ticket with the same exact seat that I did, 2)there were little, annoying girls sitting directly behind me screaming as loud as they could during the whole show, and 3)the people directly in front of us stood up for the whole show, and some other people behind us asked us to sit down when WE stood up so that we could see. Ugh! I thought I was going to miss the beginning of Patty's set because of my seat screw up. Stupid Ticketmaster. Anyway, I really enjoyed the show otherwise. This was my first time seeing Patty live and it was just as great as I thought it would be, if not better. I am that much more inspired after seeing her. I'm a fan of the Chicks too, but I like Patty wayyyyyyyyy more. I was impressed with the Dixie Chicks though. Even my friend, who never ever listens to mainstream music enjoyed the Chicks. And we were so very happy that we had such good seats (despite the people standing up in front of us...grrr). All in all I'm very pleased. Although, I was upset that Patty's set was so short. There were so many more songs that I wish she could've played (eg. Poor Man's House, Wiggley Fingers, Cain, etc.). I guess I'm just happy to have seen her at all. Well, that's my input. Hope I didn't bore too many of ya! Happy, happy, happy... ~eryn PS. OH YEAH! I forgot to mention that one of the members of the Chicks' band was sitting in a floor seat during Patty's performance, singing and jamming out to her music. I dug that! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Jul 2000 04:05:26 EDT From: MistyBC@aol.com Subject: MM: Patty & Sting Hey all. I just got home from Tower Records & got Patty's promo CD with a purchase of Sting's Brand New Day. They are actually packaged together, so I had to buy Sting to get Patty. I don't find their music very similar, but either way, it's good exposure, I guess! I hope the Sting CD was worth the $15, but if NOT, Patty surely is. I LOVE SILVER BELL! Especially the little intro. Anyone received their posters yet? - -Misty, who can't WAIT for the whole album now, and who is also happy to know that Patty will open for the Chicks in Nashville, instead of Ricky Skaggs. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Jul 2000 06:30:34 -0400 From: "Donald Henn" Subject: MM: Re: Patty & Sting Hey ! Brand New Day is a BIG record. Maybe between that & the Chix , the public will be ready for Patty come 2001. Wonder how her management team managed that. Maybe it's just Patty's great acceptance by other musicians. I'm sure Sting has the power to do that on his own. I don't know much of his solo music , but I believe he was the prime mover creatively on "Ghost in the Machine" , waaayyy up there on my 'A' list. Onward & upward. You will see light in the darkness You will make some sense of this And when you've made your secret journey You will find the love you miss Sting "Secret Journey" Performed by The Police From "Ghost in the Machine" Don Hey all. Great show. Just Patty and her big ol' Gibson. She always looks so tiny up there on the stage. This was her 3rd performance there, opening for Dwight Yoakam last year and the other time was ? The Backyard is an outdoor venue and it was still quite light outside when she began at 8:00. She said it was a little disconcerting to be able to see her audience so well. Anyway, we were pulling up at 8:00 and missed the first song. We had great seats though, on the 22nd row and the woman next to me even let me use her binoculars to get a better view. The set included, not in this order: Moses Top of the World Flaming Red Mary Poor Man's House Little God Change Tomorrow Night Truth #2 And one I missed The audience REALLY wanted an encore but I guess it wasn't an option since she was opening. We stuck around for Armatrading, but left during her 3rd song. She was pretty boring. Hubby said she should be opening for Patty. I love to hear stuff like this bc I turned him on to her and that is hard to do. Tom Waits is about as pop as he gets! If you are hesitant on him, don't be. I love his music, especially his solo stuff. Totally and most definitely unique.
