Every guitar I had before came with it's own electronics, so I never really looked into it too much. Email me privately so the others here won't be bothered with guitar tech info. Paul, if you wouldn't have been so busy drinking Guinness and hitting on Laetitia you would have been there.. :-) Apparently after the tour with them she came back here and played some headlining shows sometime in '97, which of course I missed b/c there was no emailing list back then! I'm thinking of making a tee shirt with Patty on it, kind of a pseudo concert tee shirt kind of thing. As long as I make sure not to infringe any copyrights. LOL. I'd like to put a Patty lyric quote on it too, and was curious as to what the list would offer as personal favorites. I've noticed some MMers put lyrics, Patty or otherwise, as a signature on their emails. Don does this and it's pretty cool. One of my favorites is "I don't believe there is such a thing as saying too much, there are those who like to look and those who ain't afraid to touch." From Mad Mission, ironically enough. :) Any other faves out there? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Jun 2000 14:39:57 -0400 From: Anne Corrigan Subject: MM: Pocket Size I thought I'd share since Patty is featured on the Anywhere but Here soundtrack, that I just loved that song 'Walking' by Pocket Size on the album, so O got their album just yesterday and was amazed at its quality so I wrote an e-mail to the band, not really expecting anything...maybe being added to a mailing list or something...and within a few hours the singer wrote me back, and because I told her I wished I knew what the lyrics were...she attached a file of the lyrics, isn't that nice! So...if anyone else has that albums and wants the lyrics let me know, what a nice person Liz Overs (the singer) is! I told her I had a college radio show which I had played "Walking" on...and she thanked me for playing them, i tell you I get more personal responses from bands when I say I have a radio show (as dinky a station it is). It also helps that I like a lot of bands that aren't that well known...Any of you like the band Fisher, they were featured on the Great Expectations soundstrack...well because I e-mailed them and mentioned my show I got to interview her, via phone, live on my show one week! Anyway, I am just so pleased right now... *smirk* Anne ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Jun 2000 14:58:35 -0400 (EDT) From: runrunrun@dellmail.com Subject: Re: MM: t-shirt quotes I love these: "who would know better than you... a hundred love letters and none of them true...." I know I'm not the first to respond, but when a simple e-mail is enough to make me want to shake someone, I figure I'd better respond. Yes - "evil" one, I do remember your little 'age' diatribe and subsequent mention, something to the effect of 'the younger generation just don't get sarcasm.' Well, just for the record, I have a crystal clear understanding of sarcasm, and if your painfully ignorant remarks about the SLAM show were intened as sarcastic, you might want to brush up the stylistic elements of your writing. Please accept this advice, intended with no malice: remember that words on a screen can't carry the same vocal inflection as the spoken word to alert one to a statement's intended sarcasm and therfore must be carefully assembled if the intened message and meaning are to be understood... If they weren't sarcastic, then I'd like to say this (WITH intended malice): I find your ignorance pitiful, pathetic, narrow minded, and downright pathetic. Please understand that It's not necessarily your apparent stand on the NRA or gun control that angers me so much as your gross lack of respect for a fellow human being. You're probably the type of person who yells at a checker at the grocery store because you're pissed about the long lines... I'd also like to point out that there was no particular political point of view blatantly touted in the e-mail which elicited your vulgarly rude response, simply a mention of a concert and it's purpose. Maybe you're one of those 'right-wingers' who is so extremely upset by another person's point of view simply because you are not secure enough in your own beliefs, and therefore you feel threatened by differeing opinions because you're afraid you're not strong enough to 'resist' them. I, for one, realize that the broad generalization of "The NRA is evil" probably comes from the fact that often, an organization gets a bad reputation not because of the organization itself, because of its rules or beliefs, but because of the behavior of MEMBERS of the organization acting on their own free will. It is people like you, those with such an obvious lack of tolerance, who have the same effect as those 'bad NRA members'; you put a bad taste of in people's mouths, create a general image and make any 'Republican/right wing/conservative ' seem about as apealing as a freshly picked scab. Also - behave as you like in your life, but please do be careful not to act like an ass with regard to Patty Griffin or the MM group - we'd hate to have a blanket concensus opinion placed upon Patty or US because of YOUR behavior. P.S. - Although I did chime in after your age "joke", I will reiterate that I am 22. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V4 #175 *********************************
