They were going to be the main act, but got bumped to the opening slot when Patty was added. It's not updated on their website or print calendar. I was at the Ark last night, seeing Dan Bern. Dan told the crowd that Patty was playing solo acoustic... anyone know if this is true, if she's playing without her band? The Ark also made a couple announcements about the change of calendar for the Patty Griffin show, and had out fliers. mark Paz Man wrote: > Hi All > > Could somebody please help me out. As far as I was aware, the Ark is generally an acoustic setting...meaning the artists are usually performing acoustically. I have never been to the Ark, myself - but my friend, who also saw Dan Bern last night, said that he doesn't think the stage would even fit an entire band. Aimee Mann played with a three-piece there, so did Catie Curtis. The stage is a bit small, but it can fit a band. And The Ark does have an acoustic reputation, but often has electric acts. So she could well still perform there with a band. However, Dan Bern did announce "without a band" for Patty last night, so that's what I'm guessing it is. Just wanted to confirm. :) Mark Sarah Stanley wrote: > >I was at the Ark last night, seeing Dan Bern. I know when she does these little mini-tour things, like with only a few shows scattered here and there for a week or 2, it's usually a solo thing. I'm guessing it just costs too much money to have the band fly in with all their equipment for just a few shows. Not only that, but from what I've heard her say before, the purpose of these shows is for her to work these songs out, and see how they are live.. Also just to get out and play, she REALLY seems to love playing live. I haven't heard anything specific saying band, or without... but judging from her past tours like this, it will be solo. Geez, Can April 12th get here soon enough?? :-) Dave ************************************************ Last night I dreamt of flying Over hillsides in the snow And I dove down through the clouds Into the valley there below When the fields turned into parking lots My freedom turned to dread The ground rose up to greet me And I jumped up out of bed ~~ The Badlees ~~ ************************************************ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Mar 2000 14:54:10 -0800 (PST) From: John Utrup Subject: Re: MM: Ark Clarification, band? Patty has never brought the band to the Ark with her before, but if they can all fit in that little Borders a couple miles down. (In one section of it no less) then they may just show with her in Ann Arbor. :-) John ===== "Word." - various rappers __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I've only seen about 3 of them before :-) If anyone wants copies let me know...it'll be 24 pages (since i'm not sure how to print front and back at the library..) And I think it costs like $.06 - $.10 per page so it'll probably be like $2 for the copies + shipping. Or if anyone wants to trade for them or something. (not the originals of course!) I just opened it up so I haven't looked too thourghly through it but there are articles from People and Entertainment Weekly...among others! See you all at the Ark!
