I can't get the damn thing out of my head. Their harmonies do Griffin justice. Is there bisexual music - e.g., David Bowie in Ziggy Stardust days, not to mention Mick Jagger at the same time? Pete Townshend - "Rough Boys?" Ani DeFranco? Paula Cole - "Carmen?" M'shell N'gedecello? (I hope I spelled that right and put her in the right category) Is there "maybe I am, maybe I'm not, see if you can guess" music? Ricky Martin? Before-the-bathroom incident George Michael ? Is there, "I'm not sure myself" music? Say, "Rebel, Rebel?" Is there, "I'm not sure, please tell me" music? Is there "whatever" music? "If you can't be with the 1 you love, honey, love the one you're with" Is there thinly veiled, "We're homosexual but everyone join in the fun" music -say The Village People? How about transvestite music? Say, RuPaul? Or transgender? (I don't have an example for that one, but I'm sure there is someone in the music business who fits this criterion). Or hermaphrodite? (See parentheses above) I'm sure I've left something out, and I'm equally sure someone(s?) will let me know. But, oh my God, how much subtext have I been missing all these years? Hi folks :-) Considering the confusion the last few days as to whether or not the chat with Patty as listed on the Sessions At West 54th web site was accurate, or that it had already occurred as that very same site also kind of says, I wrote her management asing what's up and just heard back. Yes, Patty will be partaking in a live online chat tonight/Wednesday at 9:00pm Eastern US time. To join in this chat just go to the Sessions web site right here: http://www.sessionsatwest54th.com then click on the"Chat With Patty Griffin" link on the left side of that page, fill out the requested basic information, click "Enter Chat" and you are in. I also received some other info, and will send in on in an hour or so....just wanted to get this chat info out as soon as possible. Enjoy the chat! Mike P.S. Don't forget to check your local PBS listings for the Sessions At West 54th show which has Patty's peformance scheduled this weekend (or next weekend in some areas). She is still presently recording and working on a new CD. Jay Joyce and Craig Ross are co-producing tracks. They expect to finish up recording around the first of March, but there's no clue yet as to a possible release date. When they know, they'll let us know :-) I was not told what songs are being recorded, nor the names of any of the musicians. (I'll try to dig that info up....always makes for interesting discussion fodder) As for concerts/shows, in addition to that rescheduled New Hampshire show, there is a benefit scheduled for March 29th in Los Angeles. There are no other firm details at this time, other than the fact that Emmylou Harris is on this gig also. (start diggin for Emmylou info for the 29th for March folks :-) Way, way in the future is a 4th Of July gig with Emmylou in Washington DC as a part of a show put on by the park service. Some other gigs with Emmylou may pop up here and there and they will let me know as things get etched in stone. I was not told if these shows are solo or with a band. Also, there is a new webzine called Moxie Girl that is using "Blue Sky" as the theme in their television commercials. They are supposed to start airing TONIGHT on the WB network during Felicity and Dawsons' Creek, etc. and then on MTV next week. That's all folks.
