Hi, I am 26 years old, from New Hampshire. This is my first post to the list, so I hope it's sucessful. I first heard Patty's "Every Little Bit" on the radio a few years ago, and literally ran out to buy LWG the next day. Then came Flaming Red and I was hooked. I really only have those two Patty CDs, and also "Cain" on the Lillith Fair compilation, but I can listen to them over and over and over. The thing I like about this list of Patty fans is that even though there is a wide range of ages and lifestyles (and drinking preferences) we all join to share news/stories/love of Patty. Even though there is the occassional squabble and suddenly I get 15 emails about something dumb, I've gotten information I might not have gotten otherwise about Patty, simply because one of her fans wanted to share it. I bought my tickets to see my first live Patty appearance for April 7th, in Lebanon, NH, and I know I will be moved to tears. Patty's music just does that to me, and I know I'm not the only one. I found out about the tickets from the Mad Missioners, so thank you everyone for that. In short, this list rocks, and I hope Patty has seen/read it at least once. Been listening to Patty since I heard Every Little Bit on an "acoustic sunrise" radio program. Ran out and bought the CD. Addicted since. By the way, Francis Dunnery ROCKS! I've seen him live many times, and met him too. He is a remarkable writer and performer, one of my favs! I have a strange range of musical preferences. I listen to Jonatha Brooke, Tori, Shawn Colvin, and Rufus Wainwright for a few, but love bands like The BoDeans, Del Amitri, Jelly Fish, Crowded House, and Jars of Clay. Go figure! These days I'm consumed with Nick Drake. Got the box set for Christmas and have been listening ever since. I haven't seen Patty perform yet, not live, not recorded, not ever! I live halfway between Albany and Saratoga Springs, NY (home of SPAC), and can only hope she'll show up some day. Can't wait for Sessions, though. Pretty interesting topic, this age thing. Patty's music is truly timeless. My mom loves "Go Now"...she's 63! - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Friday, February 04, 2000 5:10 PM Subject: MM: Re: mad-mission-digest V4 #31 > Hey Dave and Evil Gary, > I agree about the Singer-Songwriter venue..It was my first Patty siting and I > was all the way in the back, but I still got chills on that 100 degree day. > I was also at the painted bride venue but this time I was right up > front, first row dead ahead. I saw her with her husband, Buddy Miller, last year opening for Cry Cry Cry at Sanders Theater in Boston. I had never heard of them, but I was entranced by her voice from the first words out of her mouth- very few singers can catch me that fast. Patty and Catie Curtis are two others who have. Julie is very beautiful with long dark hair and a charasmatic personality that comes thru on stage. I could imagine this song being a major duet if they would only play it on radio so people could hear it- anyone could identify- we have all lost someone.
