To all the GREAT Mad Mishers of the world.. I just wanted to inform you all that Patty's show that was previously scheduled for February 12th at the Lebanon Opera House in Lebanon, NH has been postponed. I called to find out about tickets this afternoon because I started thinking about how long it may be until I see Patty again. You all know me, as soon as the thought of going 7, 8, or 9 months of being Patty-deprived entered my head I was overcome by some pretty horrible symptoms. Shooting pain to my head, nausea, cold sweats, hot sweats, increased fingernail sensitivity, diarrhea followed by constipation, runny nose, extreme schizophrenia, temporary insanity, and dizziness, ....just to name a few. After that ordeal, I decided that a 7 hour journey to New Hampshire would not only be entertaining, but good for the soul. However, when I called the venue they informed me that the show has been postponed until Friday April 7th at 8:00 p.m. It will be the same lineup as before, and Patty will be solo. The show had to be postponed due to Patty being in the studio at the time of the show. Just wanted to let you all know! I hope this it not TOO disappointing to anyone. Take care, Dave ****************************************** Gonna write a song Gonna tell it like it is And if you recognize yourself I know you're going to be pissed And if you call me on it I'll deny it through and through Just like Woody Allen would If he were in my shoes ~~ The Badlees ~~ **************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Jan 2000 16:07:00 -0500 From: Mike Connell Subject: Re: MM: Lebanon, NH show on 2/12 POSTPONED, YIKES! > The show had to be postponed due to Patty >being in the studio at the time of the show. Actually this MAY be good news, as it might mean a new CD soon! :-) Flaming Red was recorded two years ago this month, and we DID get some hints of the possibility of a new CD in 2000....so maybe it will happen :-) Mike :-) - - * The Patty Griffin/Mad-Mission@smoe List Homepage is at: * http://www.quackquack.net/pattyg * * Rachel Martin's Patty Griffin Lyrics Archive is at * http://www.geocities.com/Wellesley/3079/patty.html * * Jerry Zigmont's Flaming Red - A Patty Griffin Website is at * http://members.tripod.com/PattyGriffin * * Katie Peterson's Patty Griffin Guitar Tabs Archive is at * http://members.tripod.com/~Lifey/patty.html * * DuckOfPrey or WhyADuck55 on AOL and/or AOL Instant Messenger ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Jan 2000 16:11:28 -0500 From: "Greg Pendleton" Subject: MM: Re: Lebanon, NH show on 2/12 POSTPONED, YIKES! I for one and very sad about the show being postponed. I was so psyched when I heard about it because i have never seen her live. But the new show is the day after my birthday, so I am psyched about that. hopefully this means there will be a new album in the future. Wow! Like hey guys. I've been so poor lately I haven't even been paying attention to the weather (get it? pay attention? poor? laugh damn it). I've been totally oblivious to weather, news, and even that cuban kid (isn't he back in Cuba yet?). Anyway, being down in Florida where there is no snow, I can only say that "Ah feel your pain." It's been kinda nasty here too with a bunch of wind from the north, and temps only getting into the upper 40s-lower 50s. But I'm not here to talk about all that.... I've come up with a pretty solid hip and far out idea. It came to me whilst listening to one of the live solo tapes of Ms. Griffin graciously supplied to me by Mr. cold sweat Dave himself. So here's the dilly. I'm borrowing my father's truck since my car broke down while on my way to work one day. I'm all wacked cuz my car left me stranded, but on the other hand, the rents are letting me borrow one of their cars and it has an actual tape deck (unlike mine). So, I quick grab a PG tape so as not to change any of the radio stations and freak them out when I return the vehicle. da da da. music is playing. I'm swerving to the beautiful tunes, talking on my cel phone, shaving, eating some fries, tailgating, poppin down a few beers. You know, all the normal driving things not associated with driving. Anyway, it dared to catch my attention that Patty Griffin spends a shit-load of time tuning and re-tuning her guitars. At first I was thinking "wow, she likes to sit and talk with the audience a lot." But I realized she was basically buying time while retuning the guitar for the next song in another key. So, I said to myself, "hey yo, get out of my way or learn to drive retard."(after all, I drive with a bunch of crazies down here). But THEN I said to myself "Geez, Patty Griffin really needs another freakin guitar. She could maximize her music playing efficiency if she had another guitar tuned to the other songs." And then I realized I actually was talking to myself using such phrases as "maximizing efficiency" which made me hit myself in the head for going to grad school. I've discovered that talking like an intellect is one of those irritating side effects of higher education, but now I'm digressing. So, anyway, my take on this little scene in the boring life of me made me think that we (the MM-type people) could all pool together and get her a guitar....maybe even signed by all of us. But then I thought "nah, that wouldn't fly." I mean, this is the INTERNET. Not Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. So, I'm thinking about buying her a guitar myself and giving it to her sometime. But like when was the last time I saw Patty Griffin? How about, uh, let me see, NEVER. Not to mention I'm low on the cash flow lately after treating myself to a phat ski weekend with beer buddies in the Poconos only a couple sweet weeks away. (Ah Guinness, here I come baybee!!) Well, hmmmmm. I guess my whole idea was a total flop. Which leads me to a question. What do y'all think about Patty Griffin getting another guitar so she won't have to spend all that time retuning? I don't mean re-tuning because she was playing hard and two of the strings got out of wack. I'm talking about tuning because the next song is in a total different key. I know some people probably like the little chatting and stuff, but let's be honest. She probably chats as a tactic about 60 to 70 percent of the time. I'm thinking she's shy and doesn't enjoy it as much as some might think. Plus, there would be enough space for another, maybe two more songs in her playlist if she cut down on all that tuning. And that would be better for the audience (to whom she is playing) both old fans and new converts. Or am I just being too quantitative about the whole situation and creating a quandry where none exists? After all, my ass IS on the internet. I think I'll go hippy hippy shake shake tonight...with all my might. Why not? I don't have to work until 1 or 2. peace love guitars flowers mandolins and leafy vegetable rights pual ****************************** * Your clothes. Give them * * to me.
