Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know that I am NOT rabid, as I am probably the only MM'er that is in fact, vaccinated against Rabies.. :-) A rabid Patty fan I am however, and I will never be at all hesitant to admit that. Hope you're all having a good week, the weekend is only 2 nights away! I'm not sure if that's your name....I lost the old email correspondence, but I am speaking of that awesome guy who sent me the Anywhere But Here Soundtrack. I'm rather new to this list...in fact, I am quite happy that Patty has now gained enough of a following with her powerful voice, soulful songwriting, and rocking chord progressions (which made learning the guitar all the more pleasant).... I "came across" Patty when a friend (he had or has in his possession a tape of Patty singing We Are Water from a show she did at Club Passim in Boston, also he shewed me another tape of Patty singing to one of those hand held recorders which she had done to practice a song) of hers from Boston sent me Living With Ghosts just after its release in 1996--this mutual friend was "gearing me up" so to speak for my move to Boston for I too write songs and sing (have done so since I was a child)....the first (and only) time I saw her perform was there (in Boston) opening for a band whose name escapes me now (I wanted to see PATTY, everyone else could have gone to hell).... Another musician friend of mine asked me recently who my greatest influence was musically....well, that was quite a difficult question to respond to...I mean, Janis Joplin actually "taught" me to sing (as much as one can being deceased for a number of years I suppose)....and yes, Janis is still there--but it is PATTY that added a new dimension in songwriting and vocal capabilities....Her songs were the first I learned to play AND sing (whoa, for those of you that play instruments, this is a feat when you first begin)...sooooo she is coregent with Janis...a confluence if you will... Alright...sooooo....I have a question for the group...I have been DYING to learn "I Write the Book" and/or "We Are Water" as a part of my own repertoire (I've got Forgiveness and Every Little Bit, and will be moving on shortly to acoustic versions of Tony and possibly Wiggly Fingers--in addition to an array of other songs by female artists)....does anyone have the chord progressions? Know where I could find chord progressions? The Legacy II album is "out of print" but I wrote down the words while living in Boston--and the version of We Are Water was lost with the self-destruction of a tape once in my possession... Tis, enough out of me... Thanks all for your time! Slan agat! I just wanted to mention that it's one of the best albums I've heard this year. Pay close attention to "I Know" cause it's a gem. I skipped out of lunch at work orientation to pick it up the day it came out. Love y'all! :-) John ===== "The secret to life:" Breathe in. Breathe out. My number 2 is definitely Mary J.
