I think sometimes we get too caught up in the behind the scenes story that we miss the original intent of a piece of art---how it makes you FEEL. That is the beauty of music is that you are a active participant in the creative process. Without knowing the language, sometimes, the meaning is so apparent to you because you feel where the song is trying to lead you---it's a magical thing! I can't make it due to lack of funds at the moment. ): I envy any of you who get to go. It's quite a lineup. (: > Hi all, > Ran across this today. Hi folks :-) A few weeks ago I posted that I would not be surprised if the Dixie Chicks would perform their cover of Patty's "Let Him Fly" on their Sessions At West 54th gig. (for newcomers here, the Chicks final track on their new CD is Let Him Fly) I inquired about it on a Dixie Chicks AOL board and one person who attended their taping of that show said the Chicks had indeed performed that song at the gig. Whether or not it actually made the final cut and airs on the show is anyone's guess, however we can find out this weekend as the Dixie Chicks Sessions show airs beginning Friday/tonight (depending on where you live in the USA). So, if you want to catch this, please check your local listings for day & air time(s) in your time zone. Mike :-) P.S. I don't yet know when Patty's performance will air. The Sessions folk don't even know an airdate yet. P.P.S. If you remotely like Jewel, her Sessions show airs NEXT weekend, and it's primarily a Christmas Sessions. Many members of her smoe.org mailing list were there, including some members of this list. I've got her new Christmas CD, and if the show's recordings are anything close to some of the recordings on this CD, the show should be a treat. Her voice is absolutely STUNNING on some of the songs like Silent Night, O Holy Night and her own written Gloria. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Nov 1999 06:55:44 EST From: Mercyme37@aol.com Subject: MM: Patty and the Keswick Hi all! I am so looking forward to the show at the Keswick. A group of us are meeting before and maybe after the show at the Keswick Taveran at the corner of Keswick Ave and Easton Rds Glenside. Please if you are going show, show up for the show a little early and meet us. Just ask the bartender for me and he will point me and the Dave out. Can't wait for Saturday! I hope she plays Making Pies, I really would like to hear it and I also would like to hear her sing Crazy, WHAT A VOICE! See you there! Her face looks elongated and someone decided they should just draw her eyebrows on. Ugh.
