Gary, Michelle and all...... I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was partially recorded IN a hospital, not near a hospital. I'm almost positive of this, as I asked this of her then manager (to verify a rumor about it). It's just that my memory ain't what she used to be and I wouldn't swear on a bible about it. Besides, how could a studio near a hospital (of all places) stay in business if it's not soundproofed enough to filter out sirens? I don't know about everyone else in the world, but I spend Mother's Day with my Mom. I don't care who is in town (and I'm mad about Patty). Not only that, but I had never heard of Lucinda Williams before then and couldn't be sure how much of Patty I would see/hear at this particular concert. (What was the time comparison between the two?) I like attending concerts at JHU, however I think $25 is outrageous (it's a college for crying out loud). So if they do bring Patty back (w/o Lu Williams), I hope they have more consideration for the fans. She then said that "it was near a hospital, and there are sirens all over her record". She said that they recorded the CD in the kitchen of his apartment, and partially in a closet in the apartment. There is the siren in Let Him Fly, and if you listen really closely, there is a not so obvious one in Not Alone. Those are the only 2 that I've ever noticed. Patty was originally scheduled to perform, but as someone posted before, Patty was not performing due to recent oral surgery. When I heard Patty play in August she mentioned a new cd to be coming out sometime this month, and played a song, "Little God", that is supposed to be on it. Anyone know anything more about that? Let me know. - -Leslie p.s. On a non-Patty note, if anyone cares, the Indigo Girls new cd, Come On Now Social, comes out next Tuesday. It features a new band, plus apperances by Joan Osborne, Sheryl Crow, Kate Schellenbach, and Me'shell Ndegeocello. If it's anything like the new songs they played at Lilith, it's a different sound- great stuff... ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Sep 1999 18:55:05 -0700 From: "Glennia Campbell" Subject: MM: Patty's Surgery Patty had some dental surgery. "Sessions At West 54th"....and a limited number of Mad Mission list members (plus ONE guest each) who can definitely make it to the show will be invited, free of charge! I just wanted to send this "heads up" post now for the benefit of those that subscribe only from their work addresses, and/or those folks going away for the weekend, as the informational post I will be sending that you MUST reply to in order to receive an invitation will not be posted until sometime tomorrow (Friday) evening. I am not sure at this time if there is a deadline for replying, so it may be best for those of you in the above situations to make provisions for checking your email either Friday evening or sometime on Saturday, as I likely will not be able to send the information on to this list until after 6:00pm ET or so. I will tell you this much now, and it is generally good news allowing for more of you to attend! The taping will be on (in?) the afternoon of SATURDAY October 2nd.....one week from this Saturday :-) (Please do not ask me what time the taping starts, I cannot reveal that at this time). When the post arrives Friday evening, PLEASE read it carefully and fully BEFORE replying, as there is some important information that you will HAVE to include in your reply in order to be invited. Also, please note that you will NOT be replying to me, you will be replying to an email address at the Sessions H.Q. that I will provide in the post. So be certain to send your informational reply to that address, not me. One last thing. there are a limited number of seats at this gig, and only perhaps a third of them will be invitees from this list, so just replying is not a guarantee that you will be invited, it all depends on how many replies they get. So, if you want to attend this taping, keep your eyes peeled for a post from me tomorrow night.
