Blue Sky sounds weak acoustically because of her softer vocals. She is beginning to look a bit more comfortable without her guitar though. Personally, I think that is an attempt to change her image a bit and make her look more like a "lead singer type". I think she's more appealing to younger people that way. A much better choice would have been "Flaming Red" with Patty alone on electric like she did on her last acoustic sets. That would have rocked. I thought her voice sounded great on Kilbourn, but once again the sound didn't sound that great. Anyway, those are just a few of my thoughts.... ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Jun 1999 09:35:26 EDT From: SLClink@aol.com Subject: MM: Re: The Corrs, NPC In a message dated 6/18/99 7:48:31 PM Central Daylight Time, owner-mad-mission-digest@smoe.org writes: > I would go out and buy The Coors new album. Rock on, Susan in Baton Rouge ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Jun 1999 12:01:51 EDT From: Flakeybird@aol.com Subject: MM: Pondering Fame/Blue Sky Sharyn here: I think it's very possible to have mixed feelings about fame--about losing privacy. I know I would not like it if I were trying to have a quiet dinner somewhere and someone were asking for an autograph at an inopportune time it would be annoying. Then multiply that. (I am a performer and have had people ask for autographs but I'm not famous enough for it to bother me at all). Also, I think that it's difficult to get out of your own way sometimes. I think we hold ourselves back sometimes because change can be so uncomfortable. We want it to come in increments that we can handle and it just doesn't happen that way. So we slow it down -- sabotage ourselves to make it more palpatable. Anyway, I am curious for those of you who feel Patty's management is not doing a good job, what you feel they should be doing? Maybe they aren't perfect, but this is what I see: This year, she has opened for some major names. She has had more radio interviews and her first three television appearances. Management has chosen a song to stand behind (in my opinion, a very radio-friendly song) and has decided to promote this particular song. They can't really switch gears and have her sing a different song on television. (They could, but I would then question their management skills). Lastly, and most importantly, two major artists are recording her songs and that means royalties and more success. So I see management as moving her forward as they should be doing. Also, to Larry in LA, I have really enjoyed your posts. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Jun 1999 12:39:22 -0700 From: "Victoria Chenevey" Subject: MM: Re: Re: The Corrs, NPC FYI Jewel/The Corrs - Irvine >>> 1-week notification <<< _________________________________________________________ When: 6/27/99 , 8:00 PM Location: Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre Address: 8808 Irvine Center Drive, Irvine CA, 92618 Contact: (714)855-4515 recorded information Tickets: $23.00 - $32.50 Directions: From the 405 Fwy (S) to Irivne Center Dr. exit. Nice post. I respect your opinion about her management. After all she has been on TV now twice that I know of and were are still waiting for David Letterman, however it seems to me that if you were really wanting to expose her you would let people KNOW that she is opening for 'Jonny Lang' her name never appeared on the Internet that she was opening for him, or in the 'LA Calander' for that matter. Her name(very important)-never appeared on either the outside sign of the venue or on the ticket itself advertising that she was even going to be the opening act. Crazy!!!if it was not for this list and Mike's web page I would have never even known she was in LA. There was no way to know. At least is was that way at the Wiltern in LA and I would expect like that everywhere else also. As for the guitar tabs I already submitted Long Black Limosine but on your site it's called Long Ride Home because I thought that was the name of it maybe Im confused it's been known to happen. I would love to submit 'Under These Clouds' I also wrote out Let Your Freedom ring. So Ill send them off to you soon. Thanks for having your web site out there Kate, its AWESOME and I love it and I also LOVE this list, everyones opinion is everyone's opinion and it's nice that we can all share them. I feel that we are all VERY SPECIAL people, nothing gets me through the day as much as this list. As I say'work is an inconvience' this list takes me away to musicland. Love you all!!
