Me again. I just found out that you guys can listen to Mountain Stage over the internet. On May 30 (technically, May 31st--my birthday!), at midnight central time, go to this website: http://www.broadcast.com/radio/adult_album_alternative/WRLT/ And if you have Real Player and all that stuff, you can hear Patty on Mountain Stage. It's two hours, so expect to be up late. :) Smiles, Misty ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 May 1999 18:17:54 PDT From: "Paul Russell" Subject: MM: the big-love thing Yeah. I agree with Ruby! As a matter of fact, on the closing credits for my TV show I put that very same part of "one big love" on it. And the cool part is I got footage of this skater jumping off a ledge and onto the sidewalk and right when he's in the air she sings, "...and now we're out of gas.." and then he hits the pavement (on the board of course) right on the beat when she sings "..and riding on air." (he hits right when she sings "air"...it's soo max rad). Anyway, just thought I'd add my two cents...which probably actually subtracts from the intellegent conversation, but hey. ;P I guess I'm into that math stuff. Gotta go now. ;) peace, love, and vegetable rights. paul. ************************* * He was a wise man * * who invented beer. * * * * --Plato * ************************* _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. The trader in question has a web page with a ton of tapes listed and agrees to do two for one trades (i.e. two blank tapes for 1 tape of a show). I sent her the tapes in August and dispite many reassurances that the tapes were one the way last fall, I have yet to see a single tape... and she has not answered my most recent email. Just a warning. By the way, she goes by the nickname of Silver Kat. Perhaps others have had good experiences of trading with her, but in my case, I can only assume that she ripped me off. It's been almost a year now and I have yet to see a single tape. - ---------------------------- David Lewis Digital & Print Media Design dlewis@hfx.andara.com - ---------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 May 1999 22:00:43 EDT From: NuAgeThnkr@aol.com Subject: MM: One Big Love Digging to China The other day I rented the movie "DIGGING TO CHINA" because it was filmed in Cherokee NC where I have spent several years of my life. I was familiar with all the locales and thought it would be a nice afternoon. Imagine my surprise when an instrumental version of One Big Love opened the movie!! And the cut with Patty's vocals was played at the end!! Timothy Hutton directed the movie, and "One Big Love" was definitely a good choice. Kevin Bacon plays a mentally retarded young man who befriends a young girl. The cast also includes Mary Stuart Masterson. If you like "art house" films, you might enjoy this video... - --Keith ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 May 1999 19:49:15 -0700 From: L & C Israelson Subject: MM: "Idolatry" follow-up This almost seems too superficial to post after the previous soul-baring on this topic, but I'm doin' it anyway. It's been years since I've asked a celebrity for an autograph. As I got older, I saw how "collectors" had sucked the life out of things like autographs, baseball cards, etc. These items became "investments," even for pre-teenagers. How sad. Well, I've found I can live without autographs just fine. In fact, the quality of my encounters with celebrities has improved, as they sense that all I "want" from them is a brief chance to express my admiration. I've heard it said that getting an autograph "proves" you've met somebody famous, and I admit that was at least a part of my motivation for so many years. I recently read a magazine article, however, that pointed out the absurdity of that position. The gist of it was, if you told a friend that you met Joe Celebrity, and the friend didn't believe you, then you've got bigger problems than the lack of an autograph. I just heard Blue Sky on the radio right now on Cities 97 in minneapolis. It's on a show called "10:00 news". Sounded great, much better than the other stuff they are playing on the show. Since I was already online I thought i'd pass it along. My tape trading experience has been a lot different from what you all are describing. I'm very involved with the Indigo Girls scene, and I've done a LOT of trading, on both ends. The whole 2:1 thing is very illegal, and if you're paying for postage PLUS giving the other person an extra blank tape for taking the trouble to make the tape for you (is it really a chore? c'mon...) they are seriously ripping you off. The whole point of trading is to *trade.* Either I give you a tape that you want and you give me a tape that I want in return, or you send me blank tapes and return postage. I don't know about Patty, but the Indigo Girls have said that they don't mind if people tape and distribute bootlegs of their shows as long as no one profits from the exchanges, and that's what those 2 for 1-ers are doing. It's crappy! Don't let 'em! ;) If you're interested in quality traders, I'm involved in a bootlegging ring sortofthing, but most of us just have a lot of Indigo Girls and a limited supply of other stuff. Let me know if you all need some info -- I'll try to help the best I can! I JUST GOT DONE WITH MY VERY LAST TEST *EVER*!!!!!!!
