When I first heard Patty sing "Go Now" she was still all acoustic, and she called it a lullaby. I haven't really been following "this" subtopic, but I thought I'd write anything I knew about it. :-) John ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 May 1999 00:15:46 -0400 From: "chessa" Subject: MM: MM-please help me becusae i have nothing to trade of patty's and I KNOW that there is some kewl person who would make me a copy of ANY live show of patty's, i can trade them any sheryl crow stuff if they'd dig it. if not, than that's the why it goes but i was just wondering if anyone could make me a copy of any show that they really like with good sound quality, becuase i've been wearing out one show that dave (umcaner) gave me a while ago, MAD MAD good ....(mad mad mission...) hope all is well, hope to see patty at newport fest....yup....peace. amanda "i'm a flower in the mud"--ssc ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 May 1999 07:53:21 -0500 From: "Paquin, John" Subject: MM: Carry Me I was cleaning the house this weekend and had FR blaring from the stereo and was struck by the thought that Carry Me is about radio waves (from radio stations) carrying songs and newscasts out into space (or wherever "over the lip and into the ocean" is). Just an old song on the radio Someone put on a long time ago Going out over the ocean Or I could have been hallucinating from excessive exposure to lemon scented cleaning products. - -john ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 May 1999 06:37:53 -0700 (PDT) From: Wendy J Subject: Re: MM: Carry Me John, I think the song is also about how songs can carry us back in time to people, places, things far away or gone. - --- "Paquin, John" wrote: > I was cleaning the house this weekend and had FR > blaring from the stereo and > was struck by the thought that Carry Me is about > radio waves (from radio > stations) carrying songs and newscasts out into > space (or wherever "over the > lip and into the ocean" is). > > Just an old song on the radio > Someone put on a long time ago > Going out over the ocean > > Or I could have been hallucinating from excessive > exposure to lemon scented > cleaning products. > > -john > _____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I'm a huge huge fan of Kris Delmhorst (she's really sweet, we've chatted quite a few times) and Lori McKenna is also just amazing. Lori is really cool. she's started to make quite a name for herself in the boston folk scene recently. I met her a while ago when she used to only play at this bar way outside of boston by her house. she's so nice. anyway...I have to say that the boston folk scene is just incredible. I've met many great musicians and gotten to know so many new voices. It's amazing to me how many people are out there who are trying to make it in the folk scene. seems like a tough job.... I'm sorry I'm babbling but I'm going through intense folk music withdrawal as I've been studying this semester in Jerusalem, and there's really not much of that here....soon enough I'll be back at passim, drinking my coffee and basking in the amazing sounds. peace out, Nomi - -//==//==//==//==//==//==//==//==//==//==//==//==//==//==//==//==//==//==//- "I know I can't be the only whatever-I-am in the room" -ani d. I love in the song 'One Big Love' when Patty sings this: I guess I'm taking my chances Trading in my things for a couple wings on Little white dove And one big love one big love I don't know where we are And I don't care And now we're out of gas And riding on air And one big love, one big love Her voice is so amazing here, Ill never get sick of hearing that. I wonder if she ever took voice lessons, I know that she has a natural voice, but it's just so perfect. Ruby _____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I never heard these lyrics clearly I guess- I am getting rid of, giving away, or packing away most everything from my 10 room house- and moving across country to be with someone new- taking my chances- we are planning to drive across country in August and I won't know where I am and I will be riding on air and one big love and I won't care! I guess this song suddenly becomes mine, at least this verse. Dana ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V3 #158 *********************************
