Let me assure you all that I am unsubcribing because I need to reduce the amount of email that I am receiving here at work. I have not been insulted or offended by anyone on the list and I am probably a bigger PG fan than I was before I joined the list, about two years ago. I will most likely resubscribe to the news version from my home email address. I have had the pleasure of meeting some of you and have become email friends with many more. Each one of you have touched my heart in a very profound way. Patty's music speaks very loudly to those places in our heart where compassion and love reside therefore it makes sense that her fans display those characteristics as well. I firmly believe that we attact to ourselves those people that compliment the energy we personnally put out into the universe. Patty should be proud of her fans ( I suspect, she is). For those of you who want to continue to communicate with me I can be reached at the following email addresses. Work: home: Take care. I kind of agree on some of the songs, I wuld never take anything away from the cd or Patty Griffin as an artist, but she wasn't the producer, I hope you see what kind of thread I'm shooting for,as wonderful as the songs are, I'm looking for opinions here, I think some songs might have benefited from more of an acoustic sound, Patty's voice is so unbelievable it overshadows the fact that there were so many effects. All the songs grow on me, when it comes down to it, I am more and more impressed by the cd as I hear it, but for example, I think maybe a song like Peter Pan could have done without anything but her and her piano. Which leads me to my next quetion, has anyone heard her do that in concert? If she does, is it on the guitar? Just throwing out stuff, what do you all think. Buffalo, NY is rockin'! I'm going to see the Dave Matthews Band next Tuesday, Dar Williams two weeks from then, John Mellencamp in June and Elvis Costello with Steve Nieve in Toronto. What's missing? Patty G!!!! When is this angel-voiced redhead visiting my town (or anywhere near here)? I'm living my musical fantasy through the fortunate people on the list who are seeing Patty and (thankfully) posting their reviews. Keep 'em coming. I love reading about the shows and your experiences at the shows. Sorry I missed Misty's dance. In the meantime, I've got Conan to look forward to on Friday. I'm going to kneel down and worship my TV like my old Polish lady neighbors who would get down on their knees when the Pope visited the US. Only difference is I'll have a pint of Guinness in my hand! Go Patty! "I'm not here for a long time, I'm only here for a good time!" I think it was at The Paradise in Boston. Still love her acoustic the best. Just wanted to pass on the URL to the Patty bio/interview on the Conan O' Brien web site: http://nbc.launch.com/gateway/nbc/conan/fs_start.asp?contentId=531 It's really a good piece -- she cracks on the Pope pretty hard! As a recovering Catholic, I found it kinda amusing. Enjoy! I am so sorry to hear about this tinnitus problem you have- I hope it gets better- any improvement at all would be wonderful. It must be a real loss to you to have to leave music for a while- It is a big part of my life- really helps when I am down. Just to tell you I am thinking of you- Actually, I have noticed buzzing in my ears and have been wondering if it is due to blasting music in the car-my personal concert hall! My kids always tell me I have it on too loud. I guess I should be more careful. I have never used earphones, but have noticed it being way too loud at concerts- too loud to enjoy sometimes. Dana in Ct ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 4 May 1999 22:27:44 EDT From: UMCaner74@aol.com Subject: Re: MM: over production and OTHER stuff Sean..everyone, I would like to believe that Flaming Red is PERFECT...however, I do agree that Peter Pan would be better with just Patty's voice, and the piano. I have heard her play Peter Pan a few times live, and GOD it's so much better Live. I was not real big on the song, until the 1st time I heard her sing it with just her and her piano. It was truly one of the highlights of the show! Other than Peter Pan, I don't think I'd change anything else about it...well, now that I think of it, I'd like to change that opinion (I always have so much to say) When Patty used to play Christina, solo, THAT was the most beautiful song that I've ever heard her sing. I'm not taking anything away from the song on the CD, it's just that when she used to play that with just her guitar, it was like the Heavens had just opened..PURE perfection! Ok, Thursday I'm off to see Sheryl Crow, FRONT row baby! (thanks to GREAT friend Kristen..I LOVE YOU! ) ..then Friday is Patty on Conan O'Brien..then Sunday, Patty is in Baltimore opening for Lucinda. I had decided I am ABSOLUTELY NOT going. In fact, I had forced myself to totally forget that she was even going to be there, b/c I knew my will power is NOT that good. Well...let's just say that I'm wavering on that decision just a BIT. You see..my one friend has not ever seen Patty, and she is free that night..so I'm thinking, Patty could use one more fan..(ok, ok, so that's just my sorry-ass excuse to make myself think it's OK) I figure..ok, I've seen Patty live 8 times (YIKES) since July. I know there will probably be more opportunities..but there are way too many nights that I WISH I was at a Patty show..so I'm thinking I may break down and go see Patty AGAIN..I know that 90% of you are thinking I'm INSANE by now..If you don't..PLEASE give me some support on this issue, b/c I'm feeling really really guilty! I tell you guys..all you people that write in and say that Patty never comes close to you..I really really feel for you. I just wish I had enough money to 1. Pay for her to go to your city. or 2. Give you an ALL EXPENSE paid trip to beautiful (not really), SUNNY (sometimes), Central Pennsylvania!! Which seems to be frequent stomping grounds for Patty. Mark my words..if I win the lotter (fat chance), I will track EVERY SINGLE ONE of you down, and you will be going to a Patty show, or 2, or 3, ON ME. As long as you don't mind that I tag along of course..:-) Alrighty then...I hope you all are having a splendid week..Mine is just about to get a little bit better.. Take care, Dave ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V3 #127 *********************************
