I saw that she WASN'T opening, so didn't bother getting tickets.(Which sold out quickly) Patti of course DID open and I missed the chance. Of course, all the cretins just reviewed Lucinda, with barely a mention of Patti. -sigh- john in sumner wa (jiswa) ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. There has to be something Patty related we can talk about? >> Right after I subscribed to this list, I posted a request for information about the story behind some of Patty's lyrics on Flaming Red and Living With Ghosts. I especially wanted to know about "Not Alone" and "Sweet Lorraine." Most of her songs do seem to have stories behind them. No one acknowled my post. Doesn't anyone know anything about them? I would love to hear your ideas--or if anyone has ever talked to Patty about the inspiration for her songs. Well, who are we kidding? The minute an artists plays a gig and gets paid for it, or the minute an artist makes a CD and sells one copy they have bought into the business end of it. It's a fact of life. There is a lot of talent out there, what makes the difference in who gets heard or recognized is how talented they are in dealing with the business end as well. It all seems to be about money. My god the amount of terrific music released last year was staggering, and mention of all most none of it on those rediculous awards shows!!!! BTW check out Neil Finn's cd, pretty amazing music, and again was it even mentioned anywhere??????? I just visited the Nashville River Stages website (http://www.nashvilleriverstages.com), and guess who is on the lineup??? PATTY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cool, eh? My computer at home is super-duper-slow, so I can't do major websearching, but I don't think the NRS website has the actual DATES. I'd like to know when this thingamabob is so I can put it on my calendar. Dates... Those are good things if they actually want people to come. Does anyone know WHEN the concerts are? Adios! Misty, who is enjoying this beautiful Tennessee weather on her beautiful Spring Break. ------------------------------ Date: Thursday, March, 18, 1999 From: jasepru@home.com Subject: MM: River Stages: Patty Griffin Here's the webpage that River Stages has on Patty. If you look down at the bottom, they have a link to an interview. I can't find the date or time that she's playing on this page. Am I blind? She claims Sweet Lorraine is about many different people (depending on what she says before she plays it)... sometimes it's for "a special redhead", sometimes it's semi-autobiographical. I think someone said once she said it was about her mother or grandmother or something. Patty doesn't usually give much backgroud to her songs, and if you ask her, she'll say "figure it out yourself" with a smirk. Adds to her mystique, non ? 2) As for Patty at the Iron Horse in Northampton MA- you can buy tickets in the Box Office of Thornes, which is on the top level of Thornes marketplace on Main St. in Northampton. As far as I know you can also order the tickets through Pro-Tix, but they're cheaper through the box office. The Iron Horse has a website somewhere, but the last time I checked it was waaay out of date. Hope this helps. Rachel :D PS- I'll be at the Iron Horse show- and God willing, I'll finally get to bring my fiance with me. He's only seen Patty once, and she's really changed since July of 96.
