I am so glad to hear you say your are getting "in" to Flaming Red!!! I though I was the only one in the whole world... You know, a "closet" Flaming Red worshiper:-))) Don't get me wrong, I still LOVE LWG, but MAN!!! Flaming Red ROCKS... It is nice to hear Patty is getting more "air" play, (even if it is at 30,000 feet).... As I settled back into my compfy (?!) seat on a United Airlines flight, I popped my headphones on and started to dooze, only to be ripped back into consciousness when ONE BIG LOVE came on over the headphones. I recognised the familiar opening strains and couldn't believe it!!! I ripped open the flight magazine and sure enough - there was Patty's name!!! Well, maybe making it to an aeroplan's play list is akin to "making it" to elevator music, but generally they only lay well-known things, so the future bodes well for Patty! By the way, in case any of you remember my rather harsh comments on Flaming Red last year - I TAKE IT ALL BACK - it took a while but the album certainly grew on me, to the extent I think I even play it more than LWG (is that possible???). Have a great day!! Tara ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 28 Jan 1999 08:37:32 -0800 From: "Victoria Chenevey" Subject: MM: Re: Patty on Party of Five !! But, as soon as they get the cd's, they'll love here for more. Yes, I'd love to keep Patti all to ourselves but she's an entertainer. And a damn fine one at that! Let's be happy for Patti. I personally would love for her to break out into the mainstream and get the recognition that she deserves. If it means she'll begin to have her own shows all over, I'm for that. No more, 'I think she's opening for on this day, but she'll only play for 15 minutes.' Looks like we'll all have to be good and share what's been semi-private for so long. I don't mean to nit-pick and I know it's poor netiquette to point out spelling errors, but Patty Griffin spells her name with a Y not an I. I realize it's an easy mistake to make, but c'mon! We're all fans here...let's at least spell her name correctly. :) And I wouldn't have said it if it were just one person, but it's been happening a lot lately... And just so there's some relatively substantive discussion included in this message, I was wondering if the Po5 version of Peter Pan is in fact different from what appears on Flaming Red? Would you like for her record label to drop her in a couple of years because her fan base (i.e. money for the company) isn't expanding? I only discovered Patty in '97 and then didn't even buy Flaming Red until (GASP!) November last year. Well, I guess that means I'm not a "real" Patty Griffin fan, huh? Give me a break....
