Uh, "folk nazi?" That's a new one on me. You know, I've never (up until right this minute) considered Patty Griffin to be even remotely connected with folk music. I guess if you consider "Living With Ghosts" a folk album, then I suppose I have a folk artist among my CD collection. Now that I think of it, let's see here....I've got Louden Wainright III's CD, and The Virgin Whore Complex. Those are the only other CD's I've got that are just basically guitar and voice (thus the folk music implication). Oh, and I never thought Ms. Griffin sold out anyways. How can you sell out from doing something you want to do? But "folk Nazi?" Come on, look through my 100's of CD's and see if you find a folk artist besides the ones above I chalked up to being folk. I don't know, maybe that comment wasn't meant for me. :P Folk nazi? strange things are afoot at the Circle K, Ted. Happy 1999 all, and here's hoping we won't hear the Prince song. Ha! fat chance! :P peace, love, and the fascist order of folk music, Paul (heil) Russell ********************************************** * If you want to sacrifice the admiration * * of many men for the criticism of one, * * go ahead, get married. * * --Katherine Hepburn * ********************************************** ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 02 Jan 1999 14:53:14 -0500 From: Amy Silver Subject: Re: MM: confused Not that there's anything wrong with folk music, right? I've heard this attributed to Louis Armstrong: "There's only two kinds of music, good music and bad music." I started lurking on this list about a month ago and this is my first contribution. I hope I'm doing it right. (I find things to be proud of easily, lucky for me.) You guys are funny. Happy 1999, everybody.
