It is one of my favorite covers that Patty does, heck, one of my all time favorite songs. Shawn Colvin covered it once as well. The thing about that song is, in its simplicity it caught me by surprise. It spoke right through the melody and the guitar, and yet both things created its atmosphere so exquisitely. When I first heard it, it was such a profound moment. Few songs have been so powerful on first listen. Way to go Paul! I'll type out the lyrics here because it is really short and such an amazing song. Perhaps someone familiar with Westerberg's stuff will recognise it: '"She followed with a Paul Westerberg song with which I was unfamiliar, because I don¹t know any Paul Westerberg songs. It sounded like it might be called ³Leave It Here, Where You Are,²or something like that, but for all I know it night have some arty, totally unrelated name, like ³Gnu Armageddon² or something. It was a nice song, as I recall." That help anyone? Does anybody know the name of it? At the Iron Horse in Northampton (back in October or November... sad, isn't it? I don't even remember what month I saw her... :), she played a cover of Paul Westerberg's "Even Here We Are", off of his album "14 Songs." She also did a fantastic cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Stolen Car"... anyway, here's the lyrics to "Even Here We Are" - does this sound familiar?
