Hi All!!, I hope everyone has had themselves a wonderful weekend 1st of all! I went to hear an incredibly talented singer/songwriter in Pittsburgh, PA last night. Judging by everyones love of music on this list, I figured you'd all be interested and feel this little review was not waste of time.. I don't know if any of you remember her (Nancy) posting on the list a few weeks ago about her performance last night or not. Anyway I decided it would be a worthwhile cause to go see a fellow Patty fan perform, since I lived within driving distance and all. I did e-mail her, and she told me a little about her music, and was very excited that I was willing to drive to see a "lowly" musician such as herself. So, as I made the drive to Pittsburgh, I had no idea what to expect, other than that she had her own material, and that she played covers of a lot of artists, including Jewel, Sheryl Crow, Indigo Girls, and of course Patty. I arrived at the nice place just before she started playing. Anxiously awaiting the start of her performance, I found a place to sit. There were approximately 20 or so people there. Apparently she had won an Unplugged competition at college last year, so there are people in her school and in the area that know of her. Now we get to her performance ..after about 2 lines of her singing, I could not believe what I was hearing. By the time she was done with her 1st song I could not believe how strong, yet perfectly crystalline her voice was! I was already very happy I had made the trip to see her. She played numerous covers, all of which she did wonderfully, but made each song very much her own...it sounded somewhat like the original artist, but with her own special touch that made it so much better. My personal favorite was her cover of one of my favorite Sheryl Crow songs, a rare B side Sad Sad World. Where she really shines though, is her original material. Her lyrics are so amazing, and her voice is just so emotional. Her one song Silhouette brought tears to my eyes. It is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. She sings with a passion in her voice that you rarely find anywhere out there. Her voice just grips you, and it's like you can't help but feel what she's feeling. So as not to go on forever here, to sum up her performance in one word, I would say Breathtaking fits quite well. After she was finished, I asked her how she'd feel about me posting something on the list for all the Patty fans to see. She said that would be wonderful! So I asked then if she had a tape or demo, because I'm sure a lot of people on this list would love to hear her. Unfortunately, she does not have one now, but is in the process of working on such a thing. I guess I'll be one of the lucky ones to get one of her 1st copies! So, anyone that is interested in hearing her will have to be patient for now. Anyone that is interested to hear her when she gets something is invited to do this..e-mail me privately with your address. I'll make a list of everyone that's interested and send you a tape out as soon as I get one for myself. For now, you don't need to send me a blank tape, I would be happy to help her out (she's so sweet), and have you guys hear her amazing voice. If you would like to send me a tape and return postage, I will not argue. Again, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I certainly did! I feel like I did when I saw Patty for the 1st time!! What a wonderful feeling! Take Care everyone! Dave ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Nov 1998 21:13:58 EST From: CornflkGl@aol.com Subject: Re: MM: A Great Discovery!
