I want to see people jumping and I want to see > air guitar and I want to see syncopated foot movement... That may be what *you* want, but it may not be what everybody wants. So why deny someone else their ability to enjoy the concert the way they want to enjoy it, just because you want to dance and see others dancing? I haven't seen Patty's show lately (was out of town when she came to Seattle :( ), and I'm sure I'd like to dance to some of the songs. But I'm sure I'd like to sit for some of them too...doesn't mean I'd enjoy them any less... > Clearly though, when Amy and Emily begin to sing Everything In Its > Own Time, you need to be still, you need to calm down, maybe even sit down > if you are tired... Others might like to stand up and move to that song, though! Just because it may be your reaction to a particular song doesn't mean others are going to feel the same way. That's all I've tried to say in my two messages. People react to music differently, and want radically different things from a concert. If only there were a way to accomodate everybody (i.e. chair seating that's not blocked by dancers, and chairs that aren't in the way of dancers :)) at live shows... Dave>>>>>>>>> (i've been listening in) geez, I must be getting old at 25, but I've been enjoying sitting at shows more and more. It doesn't mean I am enjoying myself any less, I assure you. I'm singing along, I'm smiling, I'm connecting, and as far as I'm concerned it's only Patty (Indigo Girls, Dar Williams etc.) and me in the room. I've spent my whole life dancing, nothing moves me more, so to speak. But I'm finding myself in my old age wanting to listen, really listen. make sense at all? ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Nov 1998 20:04:32 EST From: ASIS143@aol.com Subject: MM: new patty pictures online hey everyone! i just wanted to let everyone know that i scanned and uploaded abotu 12 pictures from patty's performance in ann arbor on halloween, so you can go check em out. i have yet to develop the roll that has the pictures from her signing, but i will have them up as soon as i finish the roll:) here's the addy: The Patty Griffin Guitar Tab Archive: http://members.tripod.com/~Lifey/patty.html okay, time to watch Friends - this show is SO funny. take care all:) kate ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Nov 1998 20:26:10 -0500 From: "Michael C. I think everyone should enjoy a show as they see fit - while respecting their fellow concert-goers. But I think I understand the sentiment. I always have a strong desireto "give something in return" for great live performances and I think really the best thing I can do is bring lots of friends and enthusiastic applause.... standing, sitting, dancing, or (like I feel at a Patty G show) floating. Applause is the currency of the audience IMHO. - making the sound of one hand clapping... ~ mike ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Nov 1998 21:53:39 -0800 From: "Victoria Chenevey" Subject: Re: MM: Re: Kosmic Blues and Jose Cuervo Vickie<<<<<<<<<<<<<
