I am just lettin you know from where it stems." Thanks for the message, big of you to post it and it is taken to heart. "By the way. The soul song that Patty has been closing with is called "Breakin' Up Somebodys Home" by Anne Peebles." If there is anyone wanting to take a listen to another recording of this song to see what it is like (even though it's not Patty singing it) you can find it on Bette Midler's 1973 self-titled album. A killer version, and one where you can hear passion at its best! Enjoy the Austin show, Howard, I am quite jealous of you getting to see it! All the best to all you MM'ers! Howdy people. :) I just joined this list 2 days ago, although I've liked Patty for quite a while! My dad gave me "Living With Ghosts" for Christmas 96 ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 7 Nov 1998 11:39:08 EST From: MistyBC@aol.com Subject: MM: Hello!, Nashville, & Cursing--Finished! Boy, am I an idiot! Yes, I just sent that not-finished post. GEEEEEZ! I love making a fool of myself! Anyway, as I was saying... I got "Living With Ghosts" for Xmas... And for some reason, I just could NOT get into it. I tried. I listened for months, but it just didn't work. Then a few months ago, I picked it up and listened to it again... I LOVED IT! God, I don't know what happened to me in that year... I must have gained some smarts. :) So, of course, when "Flaming Red" came out, I bought it! It was a bit easier for me to like, I'm not sure why. But I love it. Love them both. Lots! :) I went to see Patty in Nashville last night.... But, it's a very sad story. First, I went to see her at Tower Records, and that was just extremely awesome. She sang five songs from "Flaming Red" and it was just great fun. Then I got to talk to her for a bit, and get my CDs signed. She's so short! And SO cute! And she looks like Lea Thompson--ya know, Caroline in the City? Has anyone else noticed this? But anyway... Then I went on over to the Exit/In, only to see 21 & over signs! I'm 18! I could have cried! I begged the guy to let me in... promising that I wouldn't drink, please sir, I've never liked alcohol anyway, just please let me see Patty! I'll buy lots of cokes, and food! I'll hide under a table! Whatever you want! Just... puh- leeeease? NOPE. No luck. But I tried to see the bright side of things and realize that I did get to see a Patty concert--at Tower, and I also go to meet her. AND THEN, I found out she was coming to Nashville again in December--to a 18+ club, so I don't need to be sad, do I? I just thought she was so wonderful... and I guess that's why I joined this list. :) And to Howard (and whoever else)... I personally think cussing is FUN! Of course, the right usage is needed, and your vocabulary needs to consist of MANY other words. :) My parents never, ever cussed, so, for a long time, I thought words like, "stupid", "ugly" and "dumb" were the worst words ever. But I soon learned otherwise. I refrained from saying any of those "bad words" until 2 years ago. I made a New Year's resolution to start cussing and I was sooooo bad at it! I didn't know where to put the cuss words and it was just hilarious. My friends got such a kick out of it. But soon I got better and it just feels SO good to say those words, especially if you aren't supposed to. :) I believe that if you use these bad words in a clever way, it's fun to read, but not if you just use them in random sentences, where other words are appropriate. Okay, so now that I've babbled far too long, I'll click the "Send" button at the RIGHT TIME... Smiles, Misty :) PS I'm also on the Dar-list, and I think Dar Williams is also oh-so wonderful! I honestly don't know of ANYONE who doesn't love her music. She's just funny, brilliant, and I love her! Get "The Honesty Room"... EVERYONE! DO IT! ;) ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V2 #341 *********************************
