I heard her say so twice; once on the radio, and once live at the Clearwater Music Festival which was held at Westchester Community College in Valhalla NY (Westchester). I believe her parents were there, and I wonder how they felt hearing her song about therapy..."if that doesn't work, blame the other parent." She has a great stage presence, she had the crowd eating out of her hand. Totally fearless, and very funny. I believe she lives in Northampton MA now; in a radio interview she talked about how she liked the solitude and being away from the whole music scene; and also that there was a whole community of singer-songwriter friends of hers who live in that area. She also talked about how she moved to Seattle for a short time, but she was in way over her head, the drug-heroin thing was way too scary for her, as were the looming trees. My 2 cents. I really don't like Ellis Paul's music at all. I think Dar is OK, but I'm not too big into her, either. So you know what I do ? I don't bitch and tell people this list is about Patty only. I don't whine that we're off subject. I don't tell people to shut up. I delete the posts that are about them. As long as people use the subject line, I don't have to read it, and people who _want_ to read it can. Ain't life grand ? I moved to Atlanta from Boston this June. I was at the same Patty/Ellis concert at The Somerville Theater....magic. I've seen Patty many times in and around Boston and that was clearly one of the best. My favorite was still the outdoor Earth Day show on the Esplanade. I was dancing around in the sun like a loon to Wiggly Fingers back before it came out on Flaming Red. I've also bumped into Ellis at a Groovasaurus concert. Silly name, great band. The lead singer Anita is fierce. I too adore Martin Sexton. I've caught him at Passim and Johnny D's. His voice is angelic. DO run out and get his album. No other male vocalist compares. Another great Boston lady is Susan Tedeschi. Nobody sings the blues like her. And....she's coming to Atlanta this month. Yay! You've got some great taste in music. Let me know if you run across any other local gems. I enjoy reading the posts, and I'm on the digest version. I've noticed one thing though.....while there is a lot of posting going on, there is also an AWFUL lot of quoting going on. To the point I'm not sure where one message ends and another begins. I see entire posts being quoted several times with a paragraph or two or responses. Makes it difficult and more time consuming to read through. I'm think maybe if we all work on cleaning up our posts to the list, it'll streamline it a bit and make it more user friendly. I think what's happening is that someone will respond to a post, quote that post, which quoted the post before it, which quoted...well, you get the picture. Just my 2 cents worth. john in sumner wa ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Hey everybody! Here is the lowdown on the Exit/In gig. NO It isn't a dive. It is a great room!!! I have seen several shows and taped a couple on Digital Audio Tape (DAT) and my copy sounds really good. I am glad that I taped this one too. Patty came out and sang with Iodine and it was great. From what I understand, Iodine was the band that played on Flaming Red. They were really loud but good. The bass player is really cute. Then Patty came out. Her bass player was wearing a dress. Hey, what is up with that? I think that it is very cool for him to do that in the Bible Belt!! She sounded great. She played a couple of new songs. They were very cool. I got a set list and they were called Little God and the other one wasn't on the list, encores seldom are, but it was called Silver Bells. They rocked! They band really compliments Patty. At least I think so. Anyone else? Let me know. I am thinking of going down to Austin to check out the show. If anyone else liked the Exit/In show. Post it. I just wanted to take this time and apologize for my attitude and language a couple of postings ago. Sometimes, I let my passion for music get the best of me and in turn, hurt those that share my joy of music. However, may usage of four letter words is just so entrenched in my vernacualr that I don't realize just how offensive it is. You see, my parents were older when they had me, Dad was 50!, and I was raised by my teenage sister. So, she and I used to cuss a lot. In fact, one time my mother actually caught the two of us practicing our cussing in the backyard. So, I have been using that kind of 'potty mouth' language for sometime now. I am not excusing myself for this immature behavior. I am just lettin you know from where it stems. By the way. The soul song that Patty has been closing with is called "Breakin' Up Somebodys Home", by Anne Peebles. Peace, Howard. see you in Austin. Come and say hi. I will be on the front row! _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!?
