Her parents didn't want her to be a musician but when she was about 16 she went out and bought a guitar anyway. Then after college she got married and put it down for awhile. After a few years her husband left her and she picked up the guitar again and all of her music, vocals and writing finally started to mesh. She then went to Texas and started recording tracks here and there when she could afford it, which eventually became her first album. So she didn't just pop out the box playing as good as she does. She actually had a bit of a hard time getting started. I remember reading that the biggest struggle she had with her music was perfecting her vocal quality, which was a shock to me because her voice is a lot richer than most. If you do a web search on her you'll find various articles on her background dispite the fact that her record label can't seem to find the time to finish her official site.
