["Kevin Pease" ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sun, 11 Oct 1998 03:38:59 -0400 From: Dana Subject: MM: MM Patty in Providence Just got back at 3 AM from a great late concert with Patty- It didn't start till 11 PM but Shante and I were right smack up front, so it was worth it! The band with some new members was there and she rocked- the young crowd loved her- she did 4 encore songs. Also 2 new ones that she is trying out. New album in the works? One of them had really nice sort of oriental background music, altho I could not get the jist of the lyrics. She did that Paul Westerberg song again- something Flower- I still didn't catch the name. I managed to find the place like a homing pigeon which is pretty good since I have never gone anywhere in Providence before in my life- just driven thru on my way to the Cape and Nantucket. However, I paid for my risk taking in going to a strange city alone on the way back to New Haven. I simply could not find the parking lot I left my car in and the people on the streets after midnight were making me nervous as I am not really a city person. I saw a cop, so I told him my dilemma, and he drove me around for 45 min or so and we still could not find it in the dark. He ended up dropping me back off at the venue where Patty's gang was loading up the bus and the doors were almost closed. Someone working at the bar set me off in the opposite direction from where I had been looking, and I did find it. Then, I couldn't find 95. Then, I almost fell asleep for the last half hour of the drive. So, I am glad to be home and it was still worth the trauma. Thank you Shante for enticing me out! Patty was beautiful in a long black silk Japanese flowered dress and her black boots. Her hair was up tonight. I am looking forward to seeing her Tuesday night in Northampton- at least I have been there before and it is just a small town so I feel safer alone. Wed I am going with friends from the list so that will be nice to have someone who knows where they are going in Boston. See some of you there I hope! Hi everyone, Unfortunately, it looks like my friend is backing out on me for Patty's show tomorrow, and I'll be going alone. Is anybody else going that will have an extra seat at their table that wouldn't mind sharing? I'd really rather not sit there by myself, or with a bunch of people I don't know. Granted, I wouldn't really "know" anybody from this list, but at least it's a little bit of common ground. :) If anybody wouldn't mind sharing, I'd appreciate it. I clean up all right, I promise. :) Just drop me an email sometime tonight or tomorrow, if you wouldn't mind some company during the show. Thanks! Forgive me for this cross-post and a non-musical post but I thought that prehaps some people on these lists may be interested in this: Matt Shepard, the victim of an anti-gay hate crime died today in a Colorado hospital. I'm compiling information on this page: http://members.tripod.com/~Deleria_Haze/matt.html If anyone would like to take a look. It's not about being gay, it's about loving your fellow human beings, and about stopping any and all deaths that result because of someone's predjudices. I urge you, gay or straight, to wear some sort of memorial in memory of Matt who died simply because he of who he loved. There are several graphics on the page that can be printed out. Thanks for listening, I realize that a lot of people on these lists are not from the USA, many more are not gay, many may not even agree with what I have just said, but I just wanted to send a message for those who do!
