I imagine someone will disagree with me; I live in Athens, where there's the same number of alcohol arrests as the rest of the state schools combined.. I just get bothered by this whole issue that dictates not your actions, but your environment. - -tim 'burkeman' - -------------------------------------------- Tim Burke tb340297@ohiou.edu "The news you can't miss, no, It looks like a hit show." - -------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Oct 1998 09:35:14 -0400 From: Andrew Lee Subject: MM: RE: MM- Patty in wonderful Sedona Marc, Thanks for the remarks about the reviews... I especially appreciate your comment about the PEOPLE you met while waiting by Patty's tour bus. I have to add that one of the greatest experiences associated with the Sedona trip was the chance to hang out with some of the nicest people it has ever been my pleasure to meet and be associated with. My trip to Sedona was precipitated by my membership in the Everyman e-mail list. Reading about all of their experiences at Sedona last year made me want to go, so I just did it... I am so glad that I did. I know this is a Patty list, but let me tell you... Jackson Browne has some of the nicest fans! If it wasn't for Dana Mitkowski, I might not have discovered Patty :-(.. Anyway, the benefit takes place every year, the first weekend in October... I highly recommend making the trip, even if Patty isn't there... You won't be sorry you did. Lee P.S. I know what you mean about being proud that you didn't make a complete ass of yourself. I was so floored when Patty sang Mad Mission for me, that I could hardly speak!!! And I wasn't even talking to her... What a thrill it must have been for you!! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 09 Oct 1998 16:39:14 PDT From: "Paul Russell" Subject: MM: tripple coupon days hello. I've been readin' an' I thought I would comment on a few things. Yeah, I only check my email once a week, so I go through like 80 messages every Friday at work so I appologize if my comments are old school. Anwyay. I would definitely go to Patty Griffin alone. Actually I'm pretty damn anti-social and go pretty much everywhere alone. But like over the summer I went to a Specials concert by myself, because basically I'm going for the music, not to talk with friends. Funny I mentioned that, because I actually saw someone there whom I knew; which is way freaky cuz besides my parents friends, there's like only four people in the whole state of FLA I actually know, but that's another story. Geez, I keep screwing up typing because I'm writing with one of these keyboards that are sawed in half or something. It's way wacko and it's making me type correctly. I got off the subject again. uggh. :P Oh, the owning a club thing. Yeah, if I owned a club I would have like all kinds of underage shows and stuff. But the thing about that is you REALLY have to be careful because police (at least in some areas I'm familiar with) love busting these places for underage drinking and taking their licenses...I've seen it happen. And while SOME underagers won't drink or try, I know many many people who try the old "my 21yr old friend will buy the drink and then pour it in my coke glass". And then the club gets busted. So, I don't think it's right that they exclude the underage fans, especially for something like a concert, I can definitely see where they are coming from. But that's me. And hey, If I owned a club, then I would have TONS more money....and probably wouldn't care either way. ;) One more thing...I like the descriptivbe reviews too! I really dig reading about everyone's concert adventures. Especially in Sedona...being an alumni of Arizona State (the best college in the world) I know that Sedona is soooo freaking beautiful, with the desert, sky, cool waters to swim in, everything. Even with that church built into the mountain. Actually that "being an alumni of ASU" thing might be questionable since I only went there one year. :) But officially they still say youre alumni, and your records show it, and they still call you for money. oh, time. gotat go. Maybe next time I won't be typing on one of these freak-o keyboards, and won't spend so much time backspacing to spell words right. later! peace, love, and vegetable rights, paul ***************************************************** * How do you know if it's art?
