I don't know if there are any tickets left or not. I immediately thought that Goodbye was about someone who committed suicide as soon as I heard it. I saw her show at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC back in August...it was great. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Sep 1998 08:00:26 EDT From: LeShawnte@aol.com Subject: MM: Re: mad-mission-digest V2 #272 In a message dated 98-09-16 01:37:29 EDT, you write: << Hope to go to the Paradise in Boston the next day also. It plays during the middle of the day and some lady shows music videos. I saw a video of One Big Love, adn the host said this was a special showing, as in it wasn't playing on other stations. I don't know if it's played on TV since, because I haven't really watched TV in the past 2 months, but I just thought I'd tell y'all! I've already transcribed three "new" old songs for the lyrics archive, including a beautiful one called "Buck Naked Heart" and one I've heard her sing a couple of times about childrenin Sarajevo, called "Shells." These will be going up on the lyrics archive soon (if not today). So I have a request- can anyone figure out the words to "Cat's Out of the Bag" for me ? I don't know if anyone even has a copy of it... but it's bluesy and I have NO idea what she's saying :) Any help would be greatly appreciated... Or some sort of boot? Just wondering because the tour is not yet officially over. And the '97 disc wasn't out until spring of this year. After writing these past couple sentences I realize I could go either way in my opinion at any time of the Austin performance, anyone else that went ? What did you think, was this an epidemic nation wide, but it sounds like other cities had better artists, Indigo Girls, Patty Griffin, Mellissa Ferrick, the list goes on, I really could have done without Erika Badu. sean >From: DOSHIA98@aol.com >Date: Wed, 16 Sep 1998 15:07:18 EDT >To: mad-mission@smoe.org >Subject: Re: MM: Lilith Fair 98 > >Was this an offical release (from Nettwerk or Arista)? I also think that the line "You can't make somebody see, all their beauty from within, sometimes they just look away." is just an example of how it is often hard for people to deal with death. Many don't know how to deal with the grief of others and when someone talks about a loved one who has died sometimes the reaction of the listener is to look away and avoid the subject. Just my two cents. See you at the Paradise. I heard there is some show in Providence too. Anyone know info? joe. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Sep 1998 20:37:38 EDT From: JRMinMA@aol.com Subject: Re: MM: Lilith Fair 98 A recent version of the Lilith Fair website had a blurb about a 1998 Emerging Artists CD. It said that the CD was being given out at shows and did not mention whether it was available for sale. Patty was on the CD. You can probably find info about from Patty's bio at that site. I think that was how I came across it. Cornflkgl posted about a boot she has of the Passim Club Show featuring two rare songs that aren't on the "rarities" tape called "Buck Naked Heart" & "Shells". I would LOVE to hear these two songs. Does anyone else have these songs that would be willing to dub'em for me????? I don't have any boots to trade, but I do make some mean tollhouse cookies :-) »§«:*´`³¤³´`*:»§«. It's nothing against Austin I'm sure, it's just where the artists can be. I think in my opinion the best lineup was in Idaho or somewhere like that. Didn't Austin get sister7 though? and speaking of acoustic music, wasn't the zapatista benefit in austin? Indigo Girls, Shawn Colvin, and abunch of acoustic musicians participated in that.. I actually traveled from Mississippi to san francisco for lilith fair, which didn't have my first choice of a line-up but I couldn't go to New jersey. Eryka Badu was at san francisco too though. But as far as lilith is concerned, to get the people you want to see you almost certainly have to travel to get the line-up that is closest to the one you want. *HUGS* Lamia (even as it was I didn't get to see patty, dar, garrison starr, sister7...)
