Here's my opinion on "Tony": Patty sings it very well. I know - I've said too much already... Actually this was just a reason for me to put the set lists for the Austin shows on here. The first time you see her, you're taken by the strength of her voice, the second time your drawn in by how flexible her voice is in different types of songs. One new one "Go Now" was Patty's intro as a jazz chanteuse, it's kind of a slow-dancing romantic tune that surprised the hell out of me! Saturday 3.07.98 @ the Cactus Cafe 1) Nevermore (I think this was the name) Patty backing Craig Ross on the last song of his set. 2) Poor Man's House 3) Sweet Lorraine w/ Craig Ross on steel 4) Bitter Way(?) 5) Change 6) Mad Mission 7) Flaming Red 8) Wishing Well 9) Every Little Bit 10) Not Alone 11) Go Now 12) Forgiveness (?) 13) Crazy 14) Mary Sunday 3.08.98 @ the Cactus 1) Nevermore Patty backing Craig Ross on the last song of his set. 2) Flaming Red 3) Poor Man's House 4) Sweet Lorraine w/ Craig Ross on steel 5) Cristina 6) Change 7) Mad Mission 8) Tony 9) Forgiveness 10) Cain 11) Wishing Well 12) Every Little Bit 13) Go Now 14) Not Alone 15) Mary 16) Crazy from the poor man's house, David ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Mar 1998 10:18:03 EST From: Vidabonita Subject: Re: MM: Tony (oh no! not again!) Hey ya'll- I went to both Austin shows and they were amazing- as always! The crowd was big, since it was first come, first serve, many were turned away on both nights. It was sad to realize that would be her last show at the Cactus Club (words of the manager)- she really is to big for that initimate venue. That was sad to hear, good new for Patty but sad for her fans - knowing that as her popularity grows, we won't have the experience of what feels almost like a private concert. Saturday, MARY was just amazing and Sunday, CHRISTINA just held everyone captive. I enjoy everyones' comments and am waiting, albeit not to patiently, for FLAMING RED!!! My name's Mike and I live in Seattle, WA. I'm an "aspiring" songwriter, and I'm also starting to dabble in artist promotion. I'm really looking forward to the new album. I've seen Patty once, opening for Shawn Colvin last year. I was absolutely blown away. On another note, I have a "If you like Patty, you'll like..." artist. Her name is Mary Arden Collins. Please check out her page - she has quite a few shows on the East Coast coming up (as well as new CDs, etc.). You can find her at: http://members.aol.com/MaryArden1/ BTW, if you're a musician and coming to the Pacific NW, please check out my link below. My name's Beth and I've been on this list for about 2 months now...just now gettin' up the courage to speak out. :) I recently saw Patty's show at Cafe Milano in Nashville and let me tell you, it was incredible! She opened with the very powerful "Cain" and ended with a triple encore of "You Are Not Alone", "Mary", and "Crazy" (a very saucy version at that!). I also got the chance to meet her....she was so delightful. I couldn't get over how incredibly humble and flattered she was when praised by her other fans and I...she is very real and very cool. Patty also took the time out to actually hang out with my friend and I-we talked about music, college, Bruce (one of her biggest influences and one of my favorites as well), and things of that sort...she also seemed a little impressed that we were so young yet so aware of her music (her manager actually thought we were just a couple of kids who snuck in from the back just trying to meet someone famous-Patty quickly told him that we actually were fans and we were at the show, of course he smiled real big). I have to say that her show was everything (and MORE) that I imagined it would be...I encourage everyone to see her if there ever is a chance. Voice (!), stage presence, songs...lyrics. She's got it all!!!! I just pray that the rest of the world finds out how amazing Patty really is! Thanks!
